Having a MS is a must!

I've had a MS ever since my S300, and can't even image life without it. In fact, a 128MB doesn't seem like enough, so I'm looking forward to either MS Pro or the CF driver.

CF would be nice but does it go slower?

My N770C was ok....... but my NX would be useless without one or two memory sticks

The NX REQUIRES it for Video recording and Video and MP3 playback. You CAN take pictures without it, but it eats into valuable RAM.

That said, I consider a Memory Stick essential for:
1. Backing Up.
The MSBackup app has saved my butt countless times. It works and it works well. You just have to remember to do a backup periodically. And for those who say you can't do a selective restore, I say "Bah!" Not from within the MSBackup utility, but you can manually copy whatever files you want back from the backup directory to RAM using ClieFiles or ZLauncher/LauncherX's File Managers. It's not elegant, but it works and it works well.

2. Storing "large" apps.
Leveraging the card-aware capabilities of most launchers (ZLauncher & LauncherX handle this VERY elegantly) you can store just about any app you want on a MS. It loads quickly and leaves valuable RAM available for other stuff.

3. Storing "large" data.
It is invaluable for keeping data files that wouldn't otherwise fit in RAM. Among other things, I have two versions of the Bible for the MyBible app, I have a huge dictionary for ProWord, and I have a TON of HandStory clips, documents, and images stored.

For me, the availablity of the Memory Stick (along with supporting apps, of course) really has defined the use of my NX. It has opened capabilities that I NEVER could have come close to on my old PalmVx.

I would not go anywhere w/o my Mem Stick as it contains 90% of my applications. My beef is that this would not be a problem if the there was more RAM.

Then again like n2ifp says, we are here to enrich Sony's coffers...

I also do not think that the CF memory if the driver was available would be slower than the MS..

Memory stick is like a must to access a lot of very useful functions.

But it's annoying say...when i want to get a digital camera, and Sony is overpriced, and i don't want to pay extra for a camera compatible with memory stick pro and pay extra for the memory stick pro that won't work with my clie.

Automobile...... limited W/O the fuel tank? duh!

But then if Sony made cars they would only install a 16 ounce fuel tank but conveniently have an add-on compartment to put your 'optional' 25 gallon tank.... oh yeah, the headlights and radio would not function without the optional tank as well. :-)
