How do I manage what applications are installed on the handheld from the desktop. I think I installed a program that is either conflicting with somehting else or is too big for what memory I have left. After this I had to perform a hard reset. When I hotsync the same thing happens. I can't get the hotsync to avoid reloading the app. I've tried several things through the hotsync custom-didn't work. I'm hoping there is a place on the desktop to manage what is installed on the my clie

after hours of fustration-need help please

Disclaimer: Proceed with extreme caution!!

To get to the backup file, go to Program Files>>Sony Handheld>>(The filename here should be some variation on your Hotsync name)>>backup.

This file contains the backup of your clie, in case you have to do a hard reset. I would suggest you make a backup of this file before proceeding. Once this is done, you can delete files from the backup after a hard reset, and then only the files in this folder will be synced. If you delete something you didnt want to, you should be able to sync it back from the backup of your backup file. Alternatively, you can restore the program by just hotsyncing it from its download file.

Find the directory where the Palm Hotsync software is storing your backed up PDA files.

Then look at the Palm Hotsync log to see where in the sync process it fails.

Hopefully this will give you a clue about what file is causing your sync failure.

I have a Mac, so if you have a PC, your location will be different

One more thing. When I first got my TH55, I used Filez to set the backup bit on just about every file, however, I found that BCMLib.prc, if backed up and then restored, would crash my TH55 everytime. So if you have a copy of BCMLib.prc in your backup directory, try getting rid of it.
