After countless hours of attempting to transfer a video recoreded on my NZ90 over to my PC I gave up and called tech support. The support staff admitted that although prior versions of the Clie are able to transfer movies to the PC and running them on Quicktime 6.0, the NZ 90 doesn't have that capability. He says Sony is working on the problem.
I've read numerous threads on this site in which people claim to have accomplished the task of transfering movies to their PC. I have a feeling these people are speaking of their experiences with other older devices.
Your input is greatly appreciated on this matter.
Respectfully,

MSImport , drop and drag to folder of my choice, Double click and it opens with Quicktime 6. Don't even need to change the extension. Works fine for me and I know it's a new movie cuz it's has the NZ blockiness.....(and it was the 2nd one I took with the NZ). Don't fool around with MS export, IMO, just open two windows and drop and drag. A lot quicker and less confusing. That help?

I take the ms out of my NZ90, put it in my ZIO! ms reader. Open the folder where the video is stored, and copy it over to a folder in my c drive. Works fine!

I've done this at least 2 dozen times w/ my NZ90, no problem what-so-ever!
I use MS import, transfer my movies to my PC and open using Quicktime....it's that easy.
I even do this on my Mac as well without any problem!

Agreed very much with Jedix. Forget about MS Imports, get yourself a MS reader and do regular copy and paste. Note that there are two files for each movie, only the one in the following path is viewable:
MS/MQ_ROOT/100MOV01/

I have my NZ 90 for 10 days now and one of my questions sometime in this forum or another was how to read in my PC the clips made out of the NZ.
I got the answer that QT version 6 could do it even without renaming the file.
I tried it out and it works perfectly. My NZ 90 is European Version since I am in France.
No problem at all.

Eduardo

Yep, you are correct, it is so easy to mistake a NX for an NZ... yep that was it...Or did some of us use the included export software to do the job or like me use a MStick reader to copy to a directory on my pc... If you do not want to wait for Sony and I did not... get a reader... You may need to rename the extention on the file to .MOV I did that and Quicktime read it perfectly... I hope this helps and sorry for the tone...

What's wrong with MS Import? It works faster than anything else I've tried.

I don't think there is anything wrong with ms import. I've just always used my zio reader (which I plug into my usb on the front of my computer - very handy) for ms in my video camera and digital still camera, so its what I'm used to, I guess.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Catgenie, your reply about the pathway solved my problem. I was trying to transfer the movie via the second (unusable) file.

Isn't it kinda goofy of Sony to send out the install discs with QT5 when 6 is necessary?!!

@#$#@ couldn't finish my last post. What I was goin to say.... was that after checking the CD... it does in fact come with QT5 . Very 'strange indeed' as OneEyeSquare stated. I must have upgraded to QT6 before I got my NZ.

I have to keep it small, or it is distorted. The picture and sound are great! I haven't taken movies with my NZ yet. From everything I have read, it sounds like I will be very disappointed. I am really upset with Sony about several things. They should have had QT 6 in the CD. If it wasn't for this site, I would still be trying to figure out how to play the movies, because Sony Support told me it couldn't be done.
