normally the 'hold' slider disactivates the buttons and turns off the screen but on the vz I haven't found out what it does, anyone knows what it does on the vz90?

? Do you mean the display slider or the 'hold' button (push the power button to the left)

AFAIK there is no electric switch in the display slider (unlike the T3)

The hold feature of the power button will make the display show "HOLD", power down the display and disable the buttons (like most other CLIEs)

Is the device brand new ? Have you backup and restored your CLIE software?
[there is one bogus software module that made my Hold button stop working, I deleted it and the Hold button started working again]

I just did a hard reset and the hold switch is working again. So it must be something i have installed. I followed your instructions (Thanks a lot!) to turn it to an "english" vz90 (only the name-address fields in adressbook are still in Japanese) and installed a few other apps. I guess i now have to reinstall every piece one by one to find the the app that disabled my hold switch. Unless you might have an idea which software can cause the hold switch to not function anymore?

Not off the top of my head (I deleted it and was happy it went away...). IIRC it wasn't obvious.

Run the standard launcher "Delete" option to show the things installed -- write down any app that you didn't explicitly install yourself.
Then email or pm me the list (that should hopefully jog my memory ;-)
