HI all,
It occurred to me last night that the TG50 didn't come with any phone drivers for bluetooth phones.

If anyone needs the drivers for the Sony Ericsson T68i, let me know. I just beamed them from a Tungsten T.

Also, anyone else out there know another good source for phone drivers for palm or the sony's?

thanks,
Ken

Glad to hear the T/T drivers work! As you have the specific setup I hope to soon have (got the t68i but not the important part :D) , can you answer a few questions?

1. How far can you separate the two devices before they lose their bluetooth connection?

2. When you receive a phone call while paired, does the TG50 display any kind of notification?

3. Can you dial Address Book entries from the TG50?

4. Can you send images from the phone to the TG50? What about the reverse?

5. You wouldn't happen to have a bluetooth headset, would you? If so, any comments about interesting interactions between the three?

Thanks in advance!

1. How far can you separate the two devices before they lose their bluetooth connection?
--I haven't tried to test how far before i drop the connection, but isn't it usually like 10 meters? (someone please correct me if i'm wrong)

2. When you receive a phone call while paired, does the TG50 display any kind of notification?
--no. This feature doesn't work on the tungsten t either. I talked to the head of palmsource about this once and he said it had something to do with the bluetooth software specs. Dunno. The only device i've heard of that actually throws up a caller-id window if your bluetooth phone is ringing are apple macs with bluetooth dongles.

3. Can you dial Address Book entries from the TG50?
Yep, but it's nowhere near as convenient as the tungsten, which you can do with one hand thru the directional pad. Still, if you have a bluetooth phone and headset, it could be nice. To dial a number requires about three screen taps.

4. Can you send images from the phone to the TG50? What about the reverse?
--I've been able to send images to the tg50 from the t68i, but for some reason, the cle can't read the format of the file. (they're jpegs). I wonder if a third party photo viewer can solve this problem.

5. You wouldn't happen to have a bluetooth headset, would you? If so, any comments about interesting interactions between the three?
--Yep, have a bluetooth headset. Some bad news here.

The phone will not hand-off the call to the headset fast enough. Since current bluetooth hardware and software will only allow a connection to one device at any given time, usually, devices like the tg50, will make a connection with the phone after you dial the number, then drop the connection with the phone so the phone can make another connection with the headset.

But alas, it seems the tg50 will not drop the connection fast enough for the t68i to hand-off the call to the headset (hbh-15, i think).
THe firmware on my phone isn't the latest, so i'm hoping someone out there will give it a shot as well.

For me, it wasn't a deal breaker. But it's sloppy on sony's part for not actually testing this stuff before rolling it out the door.
Oh well.

Thanks for the info - wish it was better news, tho. Still, I can hope for 3rd-party software to provide some of the missing functionality.

One other point - If you use a PC and have a t68i, you should check out Float's MobileAgent :

http://www.sf.net/projects/fma
http://www.eflame.com/fma/

It'll pop up a window if you get an incoming call or SMS, allows file transfer to the phone, allows you to publish menus on the phone to control your PC and shows all kinds of diagnostic info. Cool stuff.

Oh and I've got a mac cube with a BT dongle and OSX - I'll have to try out that incoming call notification tonight. THanks for the info. :)

I'm using a T68m with the Jabra BT-200 headset, NR70V w/ BT memstick.

I can dial from Agendus via BT, when I hear my T68 beep. I push the connect button on my headset and BAM! I've got the call to the headest.

It's not seemless, but it works well enough for me... Hope that helps.. Lemme know.

I found this site. Download T68i drivers here. Itīs meant for the nz90 but works perfectly for tg50. SMS and everything else works beautifully.

I only found limited drivers for Nokia phones and it does not include the new phones like 7650. I am having a lot of problem get the 7650 connected with my NX via Ir. Is there anybody knows that where I can find the driver for this phone or what other I can use to make it work for the time been.

Not really for OS4 only. I use the phone driver for T39 with my TG50 and it works. Very satisfied, thanks all who have contributed.

These driver do not include BT functionality.

at least the link I posted long ago:
http://www.palm.com/uk/mobile/drivers.html

includes BT and it works with the NZ.

So who is right? I plan to use the Sony programs on a TG50 to SMS, e-mail and dial from the address book over BT to a T68. Do I need to install drivers, or as stated above, will installing drivers mess everything up? And if I do need to install drivers there have been multiple driver DLs posted, followed by replies saying that they're the wrong drivers.

In summation TG50 + Sony progs + BT + T68 (not T68i) = drivers required? And if so, where can i find correct drivers so I won't lose "all the connection for email, surf net by bluetooth"

Well, here's my story:

I have a t68i and just got my TG50. I tried to use the SMS application to send SMS's through the TG50 to the t68i. No luck. Says I didn't have a phone selected. Okay, so I go to "phones" and there's nothing I can select.

I installed the drivers from one of the above posts that were intended for the NZ90. Voila, "Sony BT to GSM" appears in the "phone" section of the "settings" menu on the TG50.

Now the details get a little hazy to me. I think I turned on BT on both devices and made the t68i "discoverable". Then I had the TG50 try to detect new BT devices. It detected the t68i. I believe I added the t68i to my "trusted devices" and accepted the connection on the t68i.

Now, as long as both devices have BT enabled, I can send SMS no problem with the TG50 to the t68i. I can also receive SMS to the TG50, but it requires a manual "send/receive".

My next goal is to get my TG50 to use the t68i as a wireless modem to connect to my ISP. I'm not sure if this is even possible though. I have Cingular as my mobile phone service and can dial in to Earthlink as part of my DSL package. So I don't currently pay for any data connection or wireless data connection through Cingular. Do I need to pay them? It seems to me that the whole point of the phone being able to function as a wireless modem is that it can "translate" the sounds from the ISP modem to data that a computer can read. So it seems to me that I should just be able to use my regular minutes to "call" my ISP and use the t68i to translate the signal and pass it on (via BT) to my TG50. Of course, this is just how I think it SHOULD work...whether or not it actually DOES work could be a different story..

I've been trying to go online or do something wireless with my Nokia 8390 (Which no drivers were present at some of the posted links.) and my TG50. I'm tweaking the settings here and there hoping I'd get to go online through IR but nothing seemed to work. Does anyone know how and if it is possible to get a Nokia 8390 to connect with the TG50 so that I may use SMS, E-mail, or go online? Thanks.

mvfrancisco, I never tried it on TG50 as I using NZ90. But if you are really need to use the SMS, you may try it if you dare. Maybe TG50 is ok with it. The worst you just need to do a hard reset and everything will be fine again.

I added the t68i to "trusted devices" and installed the t68i driver, but i can't use sms, it tells me the phone is not ready, but the t68i is already in discoverable status. I press test in phone prefs, the same error message appears. Can you tell me the reason ? thanks

maro:

So you added the t68i to the trusted devices on the TG50 and added the TG50 to the paired devices on the t68i? If you've done that (I think they ask for some sort of security code...you can put 11111 or 12345 or whatever is e3asy to remember), make sure that your t68i has bluetooth enabled (go to the "connect" menu, hit 3, 4, 1 and put it on "on"). Make sure the TG50 has Bluetooth enabled also.

Test the connection using the TG50 and see if that works. If not, let me know and I'll see what other details I can find.
