I just want to say that the TG50 is an excellent PDA. The keys are perfect as far as I know, and the shadows and darkness on the right side are not noticable in full screen apps (not neccesarily a color, but where there is tap bubbles at the bottom or anything like that).

You all shouldn't be so hard on it.

I'm not. I love the TG50, and I think the only thing that could be improved that might make me upgrade to a better model is if there was one that had 32MB of actual RAM, even better battery life and a US release of the CF sleeve (that has an extra battery) with US drivers for it.

As far as I am concerned, the TG50 is fine the way it is. The battery life could be a little better, but I don't need tons of ram (right now :) ).

Good to know that TG-50 is not as bad as people around said...Maybe they put their expectation too hight

I agree. My TG50 is great. I LOVE te voice recorder. Comes in handy in various situations.

Keyboard is great, better then grafitti for me. SO much faster.

32mb ram would be nice

Yea, I was going to play with one at BB today, but ran out of time. I think that the unit was hyped to be the perfect unit, which nothing ever is. So, people were upset. I think that its a great device from the specs, but I have to see it in person in order to decide.

Hmm...I don't think anyone sounded too upset or was too hard on it. Actually, I think the initial owner reviews of the TG50 were very measured and fair evaluations of the pluses and minuses. Even the initial "Ohmigosh, this is awful" comments were really fair first impressions. People were really good about doing followup after they got a few more days experience. I really credit the members of ClieSource for their honest evaluations. Clearly a lot of these people are very experienced Clie owners and knew just what to focus on. To a total novice newbie like me, the comments have been very helpful.

Compared to some real hissy fits I have seen on other forums where new product evaluations were given, I'd say ClieSource rocks! If I end up not getting a Clie and go with another PocketPC to replace my current one, I'm going to miss you people. This forum is an amazing resource and everyone has just been so helpful getting me up to speed on Clies. And the links to news and resources from this site is just amazing. Thanks so much! And congratulations to the new TG50 owners. I'm really happy for you if you're happy with your new Clies. I'll give them another try maybe this weekend, after I trim my girly-girl thumbnails down to size so I can be a proper geekygirl!

I don't know if the thumboard is going to be my thing after all, but I just gotta look one more time in person at that beautiful bright screen.

Wish that you will not "trim for nothing":)

I don't own a TG-50, I have an NX-60 and I am still impressed with that. And to think that the TG-50 is basicly the same device with a nicer keyboard, Bluetooth and a better Flash player (though smaller screen) in such a small form factor really impresses me. I love my NX, but the TG-50 is a great device in such a small size and even a great price for that matter. Makes me wonder who would still buy one of those Tungsten T's:D

The TT is still cheaper tho.

No, it's really not (if you go retail).

Pretty soon the TG50 will be $300 MSRP, and as you know Palm sucks at price drops, so the TT will prolly stay at $400.

Pricegrabber is good but you can't beat a good retailer (I bought mine MSRP at Compusa).

Unfortunately, the TG50 having 11MB of RAM is pathetic. Sony, like the wave of companies in this modern age of marketing, are trying to limit the technology you get and sell it to you at the highest price. This is because there is limited competition and they can screw you in this fashion. It's a sad, sad, sad comment on modern humanity. It isn't about building the better mousetrap any more... it's about making as much money as possible while trying to convince you that the mediocre crap you are receiving is top notch...

It's called democracy and the free market. If you don't like it, then don't buy it. I think the biggest problem today isn't companies trying to screw customers, its consumers who complain about what a company does, yet still gives money to them. Seems like everyone hates Microsoft (not everybody, but a lot of people), yet Bill Gates has something like $60 billion. He didn't steal it, it was given to him by consumers. If you don't like Microsoft or Sony or whoever, quit buying their products and please quit whining to people who enjoy the products.

Yeah, quit whining about Microsoft! I say so because I work for a company that is an outsourcer for them. A company called Covergys (my employer) handles a lot of the Windows based support. And want to know something. I hate both companies, and wish I hadn't bought that XBox this week but I'll have to live with it.
