performance of Kinoma Player 3EX on a Clie VZ90 is just unacceptable - it runs so so slow (as if im watching slow motion)...

i loaded it with a 5 minute martial arts documentary (encoded with Kinoma Producer 3's MPEG4-format) from my NX80V, and the playback sucks!!!

well, the only thing i could conclude about this is that Kinoma does not make use of the Clie's built-in DSP, and that the 123 MHz of the VZ90 is way way way too far below the current standards (Tungstens)...

any thoughts on the matter?

you have to encode at 240/160 to make it play smoothly. I have tried to encode at 320/240 and get the same bad results as you. with 240/160, just use the zoom feature for full screen and the movie runs perfectly as well the file size is cut in half.

here are my encoding settings:

Video:
file format = .mp4
video format = MPEG-4
fps = 12
bitrate = 240 kbps

Audio:
audio format = AAC
audio channels = Mono
sampling rate = 8.000 KHz
bitrate = 16 kbps
audio boost = none

Layout:
screen size: 320 x 320
video size: 320 x 240

-------

ill try to make changes when i get back from work, and get back with the results... thanks!!!

I wonder why you use Kinoma when there is so much better on Clie :confused:

What lmame means is that you should not use Kinoma, as the built in movie player runs infinitely better on a VZ-90. Download Cliepets FullMoviePlayer from aibohack.com, and then use image converter 2 to convert the movies. They can run in full screen, 320 x 480, and at about 20fps. By the way, to my knowledge, there are no commercial programs that use Sony's dsp for processing, as sony did not release an sdk or hdk for it. In case your wondering, FullMoviePlayer does not include any DSP native programming. It only accesses the codecs already available in the ROM.

yeah, i know it sounds strange... but here me out...

this VZ90 was given to me by my wife as a birthday present, and i had no way of knowing about it (i never even thought that my constant bickering about it would do any good)...

and so, the only way i could get video on my NX80V (ie., one that can convert MPEG2, AVI... ability to do batch jobs, etc. etc.) was to purchase Kinoma - and well, at around US$40 to US$50...

i just need to USE it... i mean, can anyone suggest what i would need to do with my ol' Kinoma???

:confused: :( :( :( :(
