Hi. I got a laptop on christmas. This is my very first laptop and I am wondering what are the must-have utilities out there for laptops. Something like when I close my laptop it can do something, or if I press certain combination of keys it will do something else, etc.

Thank you :)

on mine you can set the action for when it's closed under the power management thing...I have VNC viewer on here of course so that I can remote control my desktop (VNC server runs on port 5900 by default)...windows lets you use shortcut keys and everything like that...and I can't find any *free* voice recognition software....but it'd be cool to have.

Good Evening-

Xp comes with voice recognition built-in.

Well, I thimnk that you just talk to it and it converts the words-kinda like Dragion NatuallySpeaking or IBM viavoice!
