Since I am sure Joel will also find the dual cores at MacWorld, not surprising, they also were at CES.

Dual Core AMD: http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2317&p=12
Dual Core Intel: http://www.anandtech.com/tradeshows/showdoc.aspx?i=2317&p=2

can't wait for the dual CPU dual core... (4 x 3.0ghz I could definately utilize)

The Intel one is probably fake. :D :p But if it's real, does this mean they have a 64-bit chip now. *kidding* You know 2x 32-bit procs in one chip. :D

actually, they also had a 64bit Intel using the em64 extensions (based on amd's) to support both 32 and 64bit operations on the same chip. :p so there. :p

Ha ha, Intel is now following AMD. I honestly didn't see this coming :D Is it a true 64-bit chip like the G5 and Opteron, or just one of those chips that have a seperate 32bit and 64bit internal thingy that requires completely different code to utilise either pathway thingy. :p (I'll need to watch my developer DVD to understand once again.) I'll post again later when I reedjumacatify meself.

Intel's em64 code extensions are based on the AMD64 processor line (not opteron). In fact there was an accidental duplication of a single operation in the microcode of the 64bit extensions used on the AMD64 processor line. That same duplicated processor operation occurs in the new Intel EM64 extensions to the P4 chip. :) i.e. they reverse engineered it. :D

well, AMD got a great chuckle out of it, but I don't think they are planning a suit. Since AMD got their start by reverse engineering the Intel chips and then building their own, and Intel lost that suit. AMD is just laughing, because it is an acknowledgement of who came in "ahead of the game". :)

Can you say irony. :D If that's the right word here.

You're going to have to. Dual core processors initially won't come out with clockspeeds as fast as single core processors.
