Decent Stereo Headset Mic under 40 bucks?

I'm by no means a high end audio nut.
I've been using the Plantronics-built stereo headset that came with the Microsoft Sidewinder Game Voice set. (The Game Voice is LONG gone)

I use this set quite a bit during the day, as my wife works nights and is sleeping, so the pads are wearing out.

I need a good replacement set that won't break the bank.
I'd like to max out the bill at $40.00 US

Decent stereo sound and a good mic?
Gaming communications/Music enjoyment for under $40.00?

I looked around and noticed most of my stuff is Logitech, so I'm looking at these:

I've always associated Plantronics with communications, and don't read great stuff about their stuff, so I'm not sure.

I checked newegg and both of the logitech headsets are under $20 at newegg.
