Just out of curiosity I recently checked out some PPC devices in the local electronics market. The feel of the os is generally OK, but what I really did miss was a handwriting recognition input area. Maybe PPC doesnīt have it, or itīs well hidden, or is it so obvious and I was too stupid to find it? Well there is this collapsable keyboard, but I prefer handwriting recognition, which allows me to write without looking. Do PPCs have that or not? Wouldnīt make me change to PPC if they did, though. I am just a curious technophil:-)

PPC has 4 types of input built in.

1. Keyboard - miniture pop-up keyboard with typical qwerty layout

2. Transcriber - which recognizes your actual handwritting. You can write entire words in your own freehand handwritting, and Transcriber will convert them to printed words. Works great! Has a very high accuracy rate.

3. Letter Recognizer - Similar to Grafitti, but the writting area is divided into 3 sections to split out Capital Letters, Lower-Case Letters, and numbers.

4. Block Recognizer - Identical layout to Palm's Grafitti. Works just like grafitti.

You can also get other add-on input types (some are free) for PPC which give you other ways to key data. People are always developing new faster methods to use in place of typical qwerty keyboards.

Next to the keyboard icon on the lower right corner of the screen is an up arrow. Press the arrow, and a small popup menu will let you chose the other input options.
