We are two users at home (pc Windows XP) and whenever I install some apps, the other user gets it as well.

This is quite annoying with some apps like GMail Notifier, as the other user doesn't have Gmail and is always requested to enter e-mail plus password.

Is there any way to active/deactivate apps to different users??

Thanks

it is hard to know what is going on via remote like this. but it sounds like the software is being installed for all users. Sometimes software will ask, "do you want to install for all users?".

with windows there are several ways this works. first is the system startup. This software starts up before any user logs on. I don't think your email falls in this category, but some others might.

Then there is startup folder. There are actually two, one global, and one for each user. The global one is in the default template for all users if I recall. It has been a long time since I looked.

If it is in the startup folder for all users, you can simply remove it from there, and paste it to your user startup folder.

I haven't needed users for a while, so I have never tried any software. Google found me this: http://www.fgroupsoft.com/Absolutestartup/

while searching for [xp user software startup]

you can at least look at what is installed where with utilities like "tweakall" http://www.codeforge.co.uk/tweakall.php
