You music freaks! Anything above 5GB is just toooo much hehe. Now as for Castlevania, hehehe hmmm well..still haven't beaten the original for the DS. We are polar Opposites it seems, every free time is dedicated to Megaman series and Castlevania..well, I'll get around to it sooner or later. Waiting for FF6 Adavnce to come out then it will put the ds games onto the shelves and collect dust while I level up and find the secrets all over again. :)

I couldn't get enough of it. :D I loved finding the new souls to upgrade my weopons.

I still have not finished FF4(2) on the GBA. I like the game, but it gets my uber cheese award. :)

FF3 is coming soon, but I don't think I'll be buying it at first, since the Wii is coming out shortly after its release. Need to prioritize me game money. :)

I really want to get FF6! I love that game, but I've never had a chance to play it the whole way through.

Is anyone here a paying member of IGN.com? The reason I ask is because I'm a tard and I see they have game guides for various DS games, but they're only available to members. It's not that expensive, only like $17.95 a year. Is it worth it, or are there other sites that are better?

JackAxe
10-02-2006, 03:48 PM
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

The free sites do it better. It's all avaialble, just a matter of searching. :)

Anyone here going to get that new Donkey Kong vs Mario game?
<]=)
Here is the conclusion from a IGN.com review. They give it 7 out of 10.

Closing Comments
The original Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a far better puzzle game than March of the Minis is, but that doesn't make this game a bad one. It is a clever Lemmings-inspired, touch screen design with a great focus on user-submitted content to keep the game going on and on. Its similarities to the first game are only in looks; the concept goes in a refreshingly different -- but just not as successful, addictive or challenging -- direction for Nintendo DS gamers.

Yeah FF6 is a huge game, especially if you try to get the secrets. Even after all these years keep on playing that game time to time.

JackAxe
10-03-2006, 06:32 PM
If ff6 is huge, does that mean it's the big-cheeeeeeese...

Blah..

I'm going to pass on that Mario game for now, but will still like to try it out. Hopefully it's available at a DS download station to try.

Someone help me with the FF naming here... I am a FF fan, but, I obviously missed out on 6? I played through SNES ones before tho... I dunno! I am confused!

LupeValenz
10-03-2006, 11:48 PM
Oh wait, with the SNES, it was called FF3. This FF has the main character as Terra and a band of resistance against the Empire and the main villian is clown looking character called Kefka who is draining magic energy from Espers (summons). This (I believe) is the best FF game in the series with its huge cast of characters, great character development, story and at the time, graphics too.

Ezikial Anta
10-04-2006, 05:57 PM
Yeah, I played through that then. Loved it.
Can't wait for the new one that America never got to play though....

JackAxe

I suppose I better finish FF4, before I play FF3 on the DS.

Welp, going through the Zero series and now know who Prairie really is and know the Orgin of Omega and the Ox biometal. I think Zero series are great because they have a decent story and just love how Zero takes charge and even tell his teammates to shut up from time to time. I just hope the Zx series continue, same goes for Zero series. Though for Zx, up the difficulty a bit :)

Aghhh Cooking is fun on the DS. Makes me want to keep on cooking and unlock new receipies. There was one that I just laughed for having it in there, Instant Ramen. Just add hot water :)

JackAxe

Ramen makes me ILL these days. :o

I like the fact ZX is actually giving me a challenge. I hope that games only become more difficult again. :)

Just to ramble as usual; I honestly don't recall Ghouls n' Ghosts being any more difficult than any other games I've played. But I read often that most peeps considered it to be so.

My bonehead friend over at E.B. managed to screw up this morning... He forgot to take my pre-order and roll it over from General to the Wii, so for about a brief hour, I was actually thinking that I would not get a Wii on launch day. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, a friend called and said that a store 45 minutes away still had 2 reserves.
It was an EB. Since my buddy owed me, he was going to do his best to try and make sure that I got one of the remaining two.........

Needless to say, I got my Wii. 150 down, and the rest after next weeks paycheck. Reserved for games are NFS:Carbon, Red Steel and Zelda.

SICK!

LupeValenz

Ezikial Anta
10-14-2006, 09:10 AM
A girl who's boyfriend forgot about getting one was the last one.

She waned a PS3 untill I mentioned the price. Suddenly, the Nintendo and Xbox360 looked a lot better to her.

JackAxe
10-14-2006, 03:21 PM
$150 down. WTF!!! I only had to put $50 down. And how do they know how many Wii's they're gettingin in?

I'm just getting Zelda and an extra controller setup. I preorderd that game over a year ago for the GameCube.

Well, I hope you also steered her clear of the X360 and its price. ;)

<]=)

Ezikial Anta
10-14-2006, 07:15 PM
My 150 comes off the price, so, I only need to do 100 when I go back in, well, 145 with Zelda and w/e tax comes out to...

Car parts are wicked expensive- especially tuning parts.

JackAxe
10-15-2006, 12:49 AM
Oh, me $50 comes off the price also, along with the $6 I put down on Zelda the other year.

I took my other $100 and bought a PreSonus Headphone app. Works great!!! :)

My friend spends booko bucks on his cars. Ironically, he's spent over a $k on a minute part to enhance his car, and then asked me for a copy of an app I use to make my living. Err, no.

<]=)

Ezikial Anta
10-15-2006, 08:19 AM
I am only doing a few parts to enhance the ride to the way I've always envisioned it, then I am done. I estimate all my upgrades together will come to about 1000 bucks.

Ezikial Anta
10-15-2006, 08:22 AM
Lowering Springs, Cold air Intake, True Dual Exhaust, stereo [2 12" subs!!!] and I am done. Possibly a tune for the 93 Octane w/ CAI/Exhaust, but, Maybe not.

All are done except the springs and the exhaust. Runs and looks excellent.

Trade him for the parts if he asks again. :D the smile on your face as you come out of a corner time and time again is priceless.

JackAxe
10-18-2006, 10:16 PM
They wouldn't fit into my pickup. :p

Fast cornering is fun. I used to do it quite a bit in my old Audi, since it had front wheel drive. But that was well over a decade ago.

MegaMan ZX is draining my DS battery and that's a goooood thing.

<]=)

Ezikial Anta
10-19-2006, 11:51 AM
FWD? Fast cornering in RWD is insane!
You've got a pickup!

XD

JackAxe
10-19-2006, 12:03 PM
My pickup is only RWD, so fast cornering means fish tailing. :o

<]=)

Ezikial Anta
10-20-2006, 01:48 AM
Fish-tailing...
Learn to drift.
Controlled slide, quite amazing once you learn. Give it a little juice in first or second with wet cornering until you get the basics, grab a pair of old slicks and hit a wet parking lot, or if you are made of money, brand new Bridgestone Potenza's, and slam a dry one, but you'll get it. The first time you link a drift, you will find love.

"power sliding" to most North Americaner's.

So, yeah, about that DS, can't wait for Zelda or the new NFS Carbon!

1,000th post!

W000!!!!

Even though I had over 1,000 at PalmOne City.

Man I miss UDT hardcore.

JackAxe
10-20-2006, 03:06 AM

Yeah, I know how to drift, or I should say I used to, since I haven't done it intentionally for years. ;)

Children of Mana this month. :D But if the game is like Sword of Mana, then... :(

<]=)

LupeValenz
10-20-2006, 03:41 PM
Man Castlevania will be sweet with Co-op through Nintendo wifi connect! Sweeeet :) I am all about magic so I know I will be the mage :D

JackAxe
10-23-2006, 03:19 PM
But they both have powers, well if you count the soles.

Everytime I play MM ZX, I enjoy it, but also long for Castlevania, since it has the adveture aspect, character building, etc... MM is a good arcade game, just like Ghouls n Ghosts.

Do you know if Children of Mana play over Nintendo WiFi?

<]=)

JackAxe
10-23-2006, 03:32 PM
Mr. Ishii, the executive producer of Children of Man is very short-sited

He didn't build in Nintendo WiFi support, because he wanted to recreate the feel the original Mana had, with peeps playing locally. Well, what he doesn't realize, is the fan base of that game have all grown up and moved "apart," so playing locally IS NOT AN OPTION for some of us.

I'm probably not going to buy the game now, since my childhood friend that wanted to play it also, lives 100 miles away. My local childhood friend is not interested.

<]=)

LupeValenz

That's cool. I'm jealous, I really want one, but with the Wii around the corner and the want/need for a new iPod, I'll have to wait. :o

FF3 should be great. I'm keeping my finger crossed that they won't botch it somehow.

zackepceo
10-25-2006, 08:45 PM
I don't see how they could mess up FF3; FF4 is perfect... even though I'm stuck at the end, and I probably won't ever finish it. I still love the fact that I have it.

JackAxe
10-26-2006, 01:31 AM
I haven't played FF4 for a few months now. I was about half way done. I have the partial strategy guide in my Nintendo Power, so I'll have to sit down and finish this fun cheese someday. :)

Edit - I'm also confused about spelling, hence my edit. :)

zackepceo
10-26-2006, 03:58 PM
Oh, oh, I got mixed up.

FF3 is a 3D remake of the Japanese FF3 for NES, and it's for the DS.

The one I'm excited about is FFVI, which was FF3 for SNES in America. It's for GBA.

JackAxe
10-30-2006, 11:42 PM

Hey!!! :D Speaking of cheats, How do I get unlimited life in the New Super Mario Brothers for the DS? :o I suck so bad that I keep dying before I can get very far. My old monkey thumbs just don't work like they used to. :)

Edit - And what are some good adventure games, if any, that don't rely so much on hand-to-eye coordination? (Sad, isn't it?)

Ezikial Anta
11-02-2006, 11:49 AM
I dont think its sad at all.
I just read a review of a classic like that, but forgot the name.
I'll try to find it for you.
Cheats? You dont need cheats, just get the gigantic mushroom and you will beat the level in 2 seconds flat.

That's why you should invest in thinking games. :p

I put the cranberry juice in the cupboard the other day, and left the burner on yesterday, so needless to say, the laty is wondering about me mental health.

I've also been working 18+ hour days for over a week now, and have not had a real day off for about 2 months, so that's my excuse.

I'm going to buy touch detective this week, even if it sucks. Must support graphic adventures, because I want Lucas Arts when it was good, to comde back. :)

EXCELLENT feedback on the controller. Sort of light. Feels excellent in the hand. Had no Nunchuck attachment.

Ezikial Anta
11-10-2006, 09:11 AM
oh, and my DS lite has a problem,
the bottom screen is quite litterally "Yellow" compared to the top.
The white's have a tinge of yellow to them. I am going to go to EB and see what they say. Ugh.

Got the PS3 in at work... ITS SO FREAKIN HEAVY! ITS LIKE 11 POUNDS!!!

JackAxe
11-10-2006, 08:08 PM
LUCKY BASTARD!!!! :) I seem to be one of the few peeps that has yet to play it.

Hopefully they can replace it. LCD screens rarely match, but in general, the smaller screens mask it better.

<]=)

Ezikial Anta
11-11-2006, 08:12 PM
Well, when you work at EB [Got the job a few days ago] you get to play with the goodies. Also got to play with the PS3, can safely say that it is NOT that much better looking than the 360 thus far.

JackAxe
11-11-2006, 09:11 PM
Same goes for my friend at Gamecrazy. He's a manger, so gets to go to all of the gaming event shows also.

Neither the 360, nor PS3 have impressed me graphic wise. Games like OKami on the PS2 and Zelda Wind Waker in parts, are what wow me, since they go way above and beyond the typical cliché game style that is so common. So I really hope to see more of it on these newer systems, since they all have some pretty heafty GPUs compared to 6 years ago.

Anyway, I realized that the Wii will allow graphic adventures to be played well on consoles. I had a Playstation with a GA called Simon the wizard or something like that, but it was soooo slow, and the mouse accessory I bought was really unresponsive.

Are you gettin black Wii controlors in?

<]=)

LupeValenz
11-11-2006, 11:54 PM
360 and PS3 is mostly just to show boobies bounce more realistic o_O! Graphics not too important because we are just going to be playing games that was on the regular Xbox and PS2 only with better graphics, diffrent games will be coming from the Wii...and thats what I'll be waiting for :D. Black controllers with white system? Hmmm I'll be pure white ^.^

JackAxe
11-12-2006, 05:24 PM
But if the Wii has a PPU, as in I don't know if it was disclosed, then it will be able to keep up with the best of boobie bouncing, but without straining the CPU. Hardware acceleration, (Maybe the Wii.) is always better than software. (X360, PS3.) :)

I want blaaaaaaaaaaaaak, purrreeeee black. :p

I saw the Wii accessories at Target last night. If anything, I'll just buy the black rubber glove thingy.

If things go well, I'm going to buy an eyeTV, and then I'll be able to play the Wii on my 30" HD. DVDs look awesome stretched to 2560, so I figure the Wii games will look as good, since my pixels are sooo tiny. I just can't see my self playing the Wii on my 14" now. :o

16:9 ZELDA muahhHhahhahahhahhaaaaaa. Now I can "truly" aim the bow, where as before, it was an exercise in pain as I strained my thumb.

<]=)

Ezikial Anta
11-13-2006, 10:24 AM
After spending about 2 hours with the Wii, I can safely say I love the controls, and they are everything you expect and more. Creating a Mii is actually pretty fun. Excite Truck may become one of my launch games, although collectively, the store is pretty close to beating it. [I think it is THE game, not a demo] So, we shall see.

JackAxe
11-13-2006, 03:04 PM
Awesome. :)

I'm #24 on the preorder at my friend's store, he's only getting 15 in, so I certainly hope that almost 20 years of friendship will mean I'm bumped to 15.

LupeValenz
11-14-2006, 03:39 PM
Woot woot! FF3 will have wifi connect on the DS s, so far I see they are mostly using this with Mognet to see emails to friends through moogles. This game is soo cool and love the Job system, I have to get this. Its like FF tactics but without tactics and more like a reg FF game :). You can also play the game just with the stylus alone. :)

JackAxe
11-14-2006, 05:56 PM
12:01 Walmart. Thanks for the info, I might be doing so. :)

I'll just get Zelda Wii from him, since I also preorderd that about 2 years ago it seems.

For FF3, will I be able to play cooperatvie with a friend over Nintendo's network, or battle?

Ezikial Anta

Its out tommorow :) As for battle, I'm not sure. :(

JackAxe
11-15-2006, 12:47 AM
I hope it supports battle, then I will get it. I got Children of Mana. I borrowed it from my friend, that got it and Magical Starsign for free.

AnNnNnddd. I pLayEd the Wiiiiiii. :) Excite truck is nice, I thought the controls would either be very difficult, or just too awkward, so I'm glad I was wrong. It's a great game, and I will buy it later on.

Anyway, I'm also gettting my Wii for sure now :D One of the first 15 preorders canceled do to funds, so me friend gave it toooo meeeee, so I'll be quite happy on Sunday. I'm getting Zelda and hopefully Metroid Prime also.

I heard a rumor that FF 12 is coming to the Wii, not sure if this is for real. But the DS version is, so eitehr way, I won't need a PS2 to play it.

<]=)

LupeValenz
11-15-2006, 12:59 AM
Well did some reasearch and so far it seems wifi is only for email other players, no co-op or battle. You send out emails to unlock hidden items, jobs and dungeons. Oh well, I'm going to be grinding to get them summons ^.^

JackAxe
11-15-2006, 02:24 AM
DAM SQUARE!!! :)

I get FF3, I just need to add it to my neverending que of games I want to play. For some reason I can never empty it. I guess that's a goooood thing.

I was told the new Castlevania preorders are filling up like crazy, so I'm going to put money down on Sunday for it. I still consider Dawn of Sorrow one of theeeee best DS games. blah. :)

JackAxe
11-15-2006, 02:29 AM
Blah, Metroid Corruption won't be out until 2007. :( I watched the DVD I got for free and it had some footage, so I got all excited about it.

JackAxe
11-15-2006, 09:04 PM
Have you played it yet? :)

RS looks awesome, but I know at E3 they said it needed to be updated, because the in game tech was lagging behind the newer controller's capabilities.

Rayman actually looks like a crapload of fun. MAN I WANT MY WII NOW!!! :D

OooHhhhhhhh, soososososooooooooo close!!!!

Did your store get in a numchuck for your demo unit? My friend's store was supposed to get a one and a wand, but got two wands instead, which is needed for Excite Truck. He said that EA wants them to demo Madden, but the game won't boot without the numchuck.

JackAxe
11-16-2006, 03:19 AM
Turkey! :) Well, if you hadn't preorderd one, then you probably wouldn't have got one anyhoo. :p

I wonder how long it will take for all of these lame developers, that shunned the GameCube, to get up to speed with the Wii. I looked at the FarCry port, and it's a f*ing joke. It looks no better than a N64 game. The only thing that will save these crap game, is the controls. Some of these games are just straight ports from earlier systems, and rushed at that, so nothing was optimized for the Wii. Oh well, it happens on all new systems, so I shouldn't be suprised.

I'm also tired of some of these absolutely cluesless morons, that don't no shite about tech and make assinine assumptions that the Wii is no more powerful than a XBox or PS2.

Blah.

LupeValenz
11-16-2006, 11:34 AM
I didn't pre-order because there are tons of places that will be having the Wii on the 19th nd the stores are really not too far from one another. I'm sure it will be packed at EB games and Gamestop and I was going to go to Hastings to pick one up ^.^ Still, I'll go on Sunday to see if what I planed would have happen :D.

I'm trading 2 of my DS games, plus a few other things in trade for Children of Mana and Magical Starsign. I've only played MS for about a half hour, but I really like its battle system. It's definately a DS only game. Everything I though games like Lunar would have been.

Yeah, and I got Contact just on a guess... Anyone that likes RPG's and quirky games, [Paperboy + Star Ocean] should get this title. Hell, if you like RPG's and some of the very best graphics the DS has produced, pick this title up. The graphics really are something to behold on a handheld. They didn't look as good in the pictures as they do in my hands.

BoxWave
11-21-2006, 03:39 PM
Ezikial Anta, Star Ocean is a really good game. I played it with Playstation. Do you know if the controls are significantly different? When did the game come out for DS?

Ezikial Anta, Star Ocean is a really good game. I played it with Playstation. Do you know if the controls are significantly different? When did the game come out for DS?
Sorry man, I thought that I had responded to this!

With the stylus, of course it's going to be different, but the way they do menu's inside of Contact are excellent and you should have no problems with the game at all.

If only PALM would just release version 6 already, things might pick up again.

I know! I don't know all of whats happened to most of you guys, just that I have very fond memories of you all and this place, and when I look back at the join date, I realize how far I myself have come over the years, and how much I wish this place was back like it used to be... Ugh... rambling...
I thought there was a board where most of the members moved to, but I must've been wrong. Anyway, I'd love to get the old Off Topic back and for Palm to re-invigorate this place... but, both of those things are wishful thinking, I think. The community really did thrive quite a bit in the OT though, all the cores were there... Rambling,... twice... feel free to delete or edit... DS so good... on topic...
PalmOneCity UDT... Where have you guys gone?

On a side note, I remember you guys used to be large Tool fans, and I got to see them on this past tour- EXCELLENT musicianship. They are probably my favorite band next to Rush now. Also, A Perfect Circle is like Maynard but cut for the radio, and they are excellent as well. They lack the virtuoso musicianship, but they are amazing non-the-less.

We just need another PDA boom and things will pick up again. Sony should come back into the market, now that their ego has been eroded quite a bit.

Maybe Apple's iPhone will be the ticket to PDA rejuvination. I certainly hope Joel starts a site for it.

I haven't ordered the Wii...yet! I'm trying to think of a good excuse. My kids are still a little too young (in my opinion), and I just bought some new camera equipment, so it will Bii a while for the Wii. :)

Thanks for the heads-up on Castlevania. I will tell my wife.

Yes, I remember the old days, the UDT, the Big Crash, Callie'd. Man, those were the good old days. ;)

iPhone site - the problem with Apple sites is that there are so many of them. Regarding Cliesource, we were thriving before because the Clie was something that stood out from the rest... and we all knew it. I'd like to think we evolved. Well, we'll see what happens next month ;)

@Gizmo - Nintendo systems are perfect for all ages. No other system can have that claim to fame, so to speak. Get the Wii, and the two of you can decided if the kids are ready ;)

and... I don't listen much to much music now (I still go to smoothjazz.com and hitzradio.com though), but I think Daughtry will be my next purchase from the iTunes Music Store.

Chris Daughtry is one of the better American Idol finalists. I guess people are not ready to make rock music as popular. Daughtry stuck to his own style that's why he lost. Rock music is not really my favorite but Daughtry made me listen.

Yeah, there are tons of them. But I perosonally only like a few. :) I'm hoping the iPhone is what's needed to rejuvenate this market and push it in the right direction again.

With reviews like "Justin, watch your sexyback." Daughtry must be good. :D

You make fun, but Daughtry was pretty good. I gave his CD a listen through of about 4 or 5 songs, and while I wasn't "I have to buy this!", I was NOT disliking it, and that says a bit, considering I do not usually like American Idols after they leave the show. Plus, I might buy it.

Sweeeet! An awesome site for an awesome game!

Ahhh man, I hope they fix the US version as so far I've seen the japanese version sound very bad and the frame rate is not as smooth ;_;. Still I'm going to get this and learn to live with it since it is FFVI in portable format. If they are thinking of making Chrono Trigger for portable, I would suggest to make it on the DS so the sound and frame rate won't drop too bad.

Well I was choosing between Hotel Dusk and CV: PoR and had to go with Hotel Dusk and must say, I'm very happy with that choice. Its such a great game...err, scratch that, its not a game, but more like an interactive novel. Warning for those who hate reading, this is not the game for you! There is alot of reading going on as you have to talk to alot to find out whats going on. I like the style of the novel, get to play a guy is isn't that nice, pretty sarcastic and can be a jerk at times. I love this new format for games and hope to see more interactive mystery games like this to come out, hopefully something as hard like "The Bone Collector" or something along those lines :D

Yeah, I love the small, neat touches they put into the game, like how when the owner of the hotel gives you the pen and registration card and you sign that thing out, its cool with the lil sound effects, also how it feels like an interactive novel and it is perfect how the set up the DS to be used like a book for that. Heheh, have yet to hear one person who does NOT have fun with a wii. I was planning on getting that with next pay check but I'll have to save up for new phone, poor Treo is all bruised and battered, the screen is cracked near the side, antenna is loose and the casing does not close all the way due to some screws missing >.< oh and darn buttons sometimes get stucked grrr.

Welp, FFVI Advance is already out and its sooooo great to be playing the classic anywhere now. Miss the funny lines between Gau and Sabin, so far its not too bad of a port though the sound quality isn't up to par like the SNES version. Also they did edit the story lines a lil bit as well. Can't wait to find out the new espers though sad to hear the invisibility /x-zone combo doesn't work now, ahhhh well, just have to actually work at the combat now :D

OMG! I never should have dismissed Animal Crossing because of the "cutesy" graphics. Now it is VERY hard to get that card out of my slot. It is cutesy but it makes me laugh and care for some of the town folks. They have great personality and the emotions they show are pretty funny. I also love collecting items and building up my own lil house and help donate items to the museum. I am not a camper real life where I camp out the store for it to open butin AC I am always waiting for the store to open up and pray that I find something good for the house. This game soo good that I heard it was for Gamecube as well and went to get that as well to play on the wii. Overall if I have free time, it goes to AC to help make the town very nice :D

I have to admit about my gaming life....it sucks...lol I just have alot of good games that I keep switching fromeone to another and yet, I have not yet beat 90% of the games I have >.< I have all the Castlevania games for GBA and DS and have yet to beat either one. Welp decided to make this summer for gaming. I so want to get my moneys worth out of the games so I better get cranking to beating them. Still loving the GBA games and the hidden gems that Atlus makes like Riviera, Yggdra union, Summon nights. Love the whole anime look and unique gameplay with them. Lol with all my unbeaten games, I think with the time it will take to beat them all the price on the PS3 should drop and maybe I'll be able to get one. Oh and have to say the lil DS game card cases from Nintendo is pretty cool. Very slim and holds 6 games in one case so I like that, though at the time wish they had more than the Yoshi design at the store, wanted something like Link or Metroid oh well. :) Anyone looking towards Simcity DS coming out soon? :D

quick question about Nintendo DS':

so i managed to win a small lottery of $1000 (i almost peed myself i was so happy) not too long ago. of course, i gave half of that to my parents (because god knows i owe them for everything)

now i've got a few hundred bucks left and i'm looking for a mobile video game console, and naturally it boils down to the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS. personally, i have used both and they seem about the same to me in terms of how it feels in my hands. size, features, blah blah blah doesn't mean anything to me really. it's what GAMES they can play that makes or breaks it.

i'm an action junky, so games like Mario or stuff like that get boring really fast for me. i'm a fan of games where you really need to think on your toes in order to crush your opponents while avoiding your own death. you'll also find me and my friends at the paintball grounds every summer too :)

with this, are there any games like Burnout or Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon style games for the Nintendo DS? the DS is certainly cheaper than the PSP so right now i am slightly leaning towards the DS for that lone factor. but i don't want to commit to something that doesn't have what i'm looking for.

given this, is the NDS right for me? or am i looking at the wrong side of the fence here?

Here is one DS lite vs PsP review:
http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2006/03/08/ds-lite-versus-ds-psp-backlight.htm where the more recent comments tend toward PSP.

PSP games are more expensive (not that price is indicative of quality) .

PSP battery life is shorter but if you take movie breaks that also could be a deal breaker.

Another major consideration is does your friends have more PSP games or DS lite games.

thanks for the link, I'll be sure to give that a good read when I've got some time.

I guess price really isn't an issue. honestly, PSP games are usually only about $5 more than DS games, at least in stores around me.

PSP battery life is shorter but if you take movie breaks that also could be a deal breaker.
Well, as long as the device can handle 6 straight hours of anything (music, movies, games) that's all i need. THis will be my in-flight buddy for the next 2 years. i'll be flying *a LOT* during the next 2 or so years back and forth between East and West coast of Canada. So essentially i want enough battery to last an entire flight end to end. I'd imagine that both machines can handle that. I've also read that the PSP has some sort of extended/extra battery that you can buy. that's certainly piqued my interest into the PSP.

Another major consideration is does your friends have more PSP games or DS lite games.
As I stated just above, this will really just be a solo machine. I won't be using this device with friends to play with, if that's what you mean?

Hmm given the style of your gameplay, I would have to suggest the PSP. DS is more of the old school style gameplay for action games like Contra, Castlevania, Megaman games, while the PSP is more of the new school FPS action with stuff like Socom, Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet and Clank..well, anything with alot of bullets it seems is made for PSP :D. There is very few FPS like Metroid Hunters and a very good review for Dementium, not the game it self but what it can bring. Even news of Quake wars coming for the DS which would be nice to see. Oh and there is also Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword coming out later for the DS. Oh the choices ;_;

see, i was afraid of that kind of ordeal, that one system basically owned half of the genres while the other system kept the other 50%.

the other thing is that while those kinds of games are all fun and great for a while, i'm not too keen on shooters that don't require any brain work and they get boring really quick. for example, i fell in love with Rainbox Six when it first came out for the PC because it forces you to plan everything and expect for things to fall apart: you can't just go in runnin' and gunnin'. (I actually kind of like Murphy's Law... sad, I know). if it helps to understand me better:
*Gears of War was OK, Rainbow Six Vegas was better
*Halo 1-3 was boring after finishing them FAST, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is still playable after finishing it twice
*Need For Speed franchise got really boring after finishing Most Wanted, Burnout Takedown and Revenge still have me coming back for seconds

is there anything like that for the PSP? obviuosly i'm not looking for an identical game with all the bells and whistles as found on a PC, but at least a game that requires the player to think about their actions before they do it. I know that I'm a picky video game player, but I only want something that tests your brains and/or reactions more so than something that tests just how fast you can pound the X button and break your controller

LupeValenz
12-17-2007, 02:03 PM
Well in that case you should get the PSP as it has what you like, they have Ghost Recon 2, Socom US Navy Seals, Rainbow Six Las Vegas, Burnout Dominator for the PSP. Also the Metal Gear Ac!d series are good, little slow on the action but great strategy games. There is also Puzzle Quest as well for the PSP. Hardcore or casual, many games have became addicted with that game. :)

Now as for DS, Advance wars Days of ruin is simply awesome! Right in the menu, the song catches me as this is going to be fast paced action game. It is, its more streamlined now with less menu to go through. Online play is excellent in that if you want, just jump into worldwide mode to hook up with anyone without using your friendcode. The story this time around is actually pretty good and wants me to read through it all. I love the anime character art instead of the earlier artwork, not as kiddy this time around. The battle map pretty much looks the same, little tweak here and there but the overall graphic haul is during the battle sequences. Overall, this is a MUST HAVE game in anybody DS library.

Wow, ok I just learned a lesson, if i see a game that I want, don't wait....BUY IT! Thats what happen with me. I remember seeing Tetris but I always said when I saw the game that I'll pick it up next time, its Tetris so its bound to be here till end of life of DS. How wrong was I with that. After a long while of not being in stores and the online places being so expensive (don't know bout ebay, I kinda don't like shopping there) but I saw that a mint copy was $25 at amazon, I jumped on that and man, how I waited so long for this. It really is a great game like everyone said but thats why now a days I do day one buy for games I want. Example is Luminous Arc 2, Metal Slug 7 and Chrono Trigger. All this month, wow :D.
