Loose charging adapter?

Hi all!


Has anyone had a problem where, when fully plugged into the charging adapter (tabs at both sides click in, etc.) the orange charge light will come on but then the slightest bump will disconnect it?

I've cleaned the connector on the Clie as well as the contacts of the charging adapter, made sure that the pins in the power end of the adapter are straight, attached that 'sleeve' that seems designed to hold the power cable into the adapter yet sometimes I can leave the Clie charging on my desk with the orange charge light on when I leave it, come back in the morning and it would have stopped charging but then I touch the connector and the orange light comes back on, I disconnect and power it up and find that it has hardly charged all night ...

I'm pretty sure the charging circuit in my Clie is fine, I can top the battery up from almost flat in a few hours by sitting it in the cradle with the AC adapter plugged in ...

I wonder if they do warranty replacements only on the charging adapter ... I *REALLY* don't want to have to pack everything back into its original box and send it back (not to mention it deprives me of something that I'm using every day) :(

Your best bet would be to get a new adapter plug. There isn't much spring tension on the contacts. Your plug adapter just sounds like it's worn out.

Call Sony and ask, you don't have to commit.

Hmm ... one would have hoped that something like that wouldn't wear out quite so fast ... heh ... I've looked at the connector and there doesn't seem to be any obvious damage either (stuck or bent contacts) ...
