This is really surprising. No I don't mean the TE2. This is what we expect from Palm1 now. I am surprised that NOBODY is talking about a new PDA.
Do you remember the days of old when rumors flew about and you were glued to screen looking for some "information." When the FCC documents were found on the TH55 I barley left my computer at work and then stayed up all night following developments on Cliesource (my wife loved that). When we thought the T6 then T5 was being released there was non-stop rumors and speculation.
Now we get FCC documents and no one cares. I know it is not a top of the line offering -- and in fact it seems a little anemic, but where is the excitment?
Completly off topic: I have a friend of a friend who is testing out a Tungsten C2PO. He has great pics, but I must have replaced them. Dual wireless, QVGA screen, 624 MHz, 512MB and slideing keyboard. If I could only find the pics ;)

'bout the T|E2...um...<yawn>. It's the Zire 72 without the camera. Amazing. <yawn>. Now if palmOne put Cobalt in this thing, i'll sue. Of course, that won't happen :p.

The Tungsten T5 should have been designated the E2.
Then this model should be the E3.
Not confusing enough?!

well bluetooth for 200 (if they release it this cheap), wouldn't be too bad.

I've been thinking, and this is what I think the T|E2 will be: the Tungsten|T5 without drive mode and the 320x480 screen (and a slower CPU). It's gonna be like the iQue 3200/3600 relationship.

however i like that 18bit color screen! it is better than 16bit... i think that pda devices need more colors, like for games and pictures would be better looking... so my opinion is that it would be wayy better that 18bit colour screen...
Comments??

Should get full 24-bit then, not some stupid compromise. They love compromises does Palm, anyone remember the ?m130? (Or whatever it was?)
I'm not surprised no one's talking about it - It brings nothing to the table and is already outperformed by the Zire 72 so what's the point?
Nobody talked about the T|5 either - The only reason the T|5 got talked about was because of that Hoax, but nobody really cared about the real one. The Hoax drummed up more interest than the real one, and most of the interest in the real one was due to surprise that the Hoax was not a total Hoax!
The TH55, well, everyone knew that would be something special just from the spec and images. Many of us T665 owners were clamering for something that was a straight Tablet form-factor with HiRes+ and WiFi for years, so when we finally got it, well, joy! :)
Palm don't solicit business from people like us 'tho - They're after Businesses, but ironically Microsoft has a stronger foot-hold there now. Since they've also abandoned the techies that would have bought the original Palms, there are not many avenues open to them which is why they're trying to go down the Treo route.

If they are after the newbies, then their TUngsten E is okay...no need to upgrade. If they are after the Tungsten E who wants to upgrade, will they upgrade to the E2 just for the bluetooth? Nah. The E2 may have a better processor or more RAM but it wouldn't matter much to someone who has an E.
PalmOne should lower the price of the original E. Moves up the Zire 72 to The E's original price point. Replaces the TC with a new model. Keep the T5 and launch an OS6 device. Treo 650 can stay for another year. Wishful thinking perhaps...

I think that the following happened:
TE2 was sold as T% to attack VGA PPCs
TE was enhanced with Zire 72 planar to make a new TE2 that can be presented on the market. I personally think that it will have a hard stand against the PPCs with their bigger screens...

I'd say it's a good evolutionary upgrade from the TE. Sure, it's not revolutionary like the T2 to T3 upgrade, but it's definetly evolutionary. I think that no, it's not the perfect handheld, but at that price point it's pretty damn good.
I'm still waiting on the TC|2.http://home.comcast.net/~technovideo/tom/bigandsmall.jpg

Well, this is my oppin ion about PalmOnes recent Tungsten Series development:
T5=Real E2, pushed out fast to combat VGA PPC's
TE2 we see now=Upgraded TE, cooked together hastily using the Zire 72 planar
BTW, odds for HiRes+ on the Tungsten C are pretty bad, how do you want to handle sceen rotation with the keyboard?
