I've had my NZ for almost couple years now and it's been working flawlessly even though I've dropped it couple times which resulted in a loose hinge but it works great nonetheless. Just couple days ago, I've noticed I can't get a full 100% charge no matter how long I keep the unit on the cradle. I'd get a 100% for about 3-4 seconds and it immediately drops down to 48%. I've tried searching this issue but nothing is coming up. Please advice.

"couple of years"? Wow, with one and the same battery?

I guess it is time for a new one, this one seems like it is dying... :(

BTW: what does your charging cycles and degradation say?

cheers Nicolas

YES, this is what I posted last week in another thread.

Me Too!! my nz has worked flawlessly for 2 years, now all of a sudden the battery drains very quick.

I have 267 cycles with 2% degradation!!!???
This issue first began when I was at 260 cycles...

Is this a battery issue? That's my only guess at this point??? Anyone know where the best place to get the cheapest battery is? -A new battery?

I assumed because I was only at 2% degradation that I'd get another 98% out of my battery...guess not?

Also, it's weird that Cert and I have nearly identical charge cycles, yet our degradation is different.

Someone suggested I try resetting my clie while it's in the charger, however that hasn't seemed to help.

I've been pricing new batteries ever since I posted and I'm plesantly surprise to know they are only about $20 on ebay.

Yes I just found a new battery for: $49 http://store.l-f-l.com/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?pg=prod&ref=PEGA-BP500

are the ebay batteries new?

This makes me very happy, I assumed they were $100 because that is what Sony was asking for them on their site. funny we both had the same issue at the same time!

yes, your right, the ebay deals are much better.
Also that link I posted shows a battery that is only 1000mah, our NZ's use a 1200 mah.

Yes, they are oem sony batteries (at least that what it looks like). I'm assuming they're cheap b/c nzs are discontinued. Here's the link to ebay:

thanks, i just purchased one, $17 + shipping, $22 total. It's coming from Hong Kong (I live in San Francisco area).

I am so happy that it's only $22. My NZ has become almost unusable, going from a near full charge to 10% in about 40 minutes -just using the calculater and memo apps.

What do these terms mean mean?
Charge cycles: 263
Degradation: 4%
I am losing my battery. I look at it and it looks like its fully charged but then in a few minutes it drains a lot.

yep, your probably having the same problem as Cert and I. We are both at 260+ cycles and having serious battery issues. My guess is that the battery is just going bad.

The good news, as Cert pointed out, is that you can find a new battery on ebay for as little as $17-25.

I am guessing that the batteries in our NZ's are good for about 2 years?

What do these terms mean mean?
Charge cycles:
Degradation:

More cycles is better or what?
How do You interpret degradation?

"charge cycles" represents the amount of times your Clie has been charged. I believe your Clie has to go below a certain level before it registers a new charge cycle. Topping off your Clie won't add another charge cycle.

example: if you have "262" charge cycles, this means you've charged your Clie 262 times (from a certain level like 50% or something to a full charge).

"Degradation" represents the amount of use of your Clie's battery. I am not sure how accurate it is, as I have 268 charge cycles and only 2% degradation. Whereas others have 260+ charge cycles and have 4% degradation?? I am not sure why there is a discrepancy. Also, one would think that 2% or 4% degradation is very little, however my battery seems to be at the end of it's life, but I only show 2% degradation.

hope this helps.
