Hi,
I work at a university, and we have a palm m505 that was dropped off at the lost and found. The batteries are dead and we don't have a way of charging them. Is there a way to find information on the owner using the serial number on the back? I would like to get it back to its owner if possible.
Thanks!

If the owner registered the 505 with PalmOne, they may be able to help. (www.palmone.com) If it wan't registered, I don't think there is any way to trace the serial number.

That's very nice of you. I'd also suggest asking friends or co-workers if they have a cradle that can charge the m505. I think that the m500 series use a similar cradle to the the Zire 71, T, T2, T3 and later models with the universal connector. If you know of someone who owns a palm, maybe you could ask them if you could borrow the cradle and charge it up and try to figure out how to contact the owner.

True but just because the Palm can't turn on doesn't mean that there isn't some trickle of battery or electricity. (Wishful thinking). I guess the other thing is to check out what's on the expansion card, provided there is an expansion card inserted in the Palm.
Or post a lost and found ad in the university paper and hope that the rightful owner will come and claim it, provided he/she has the valid info or claims to it.
