Treo 650 Audio problem

I keep hearing the treo 650's speakerphone is lousy and that the mic is not that great in noisy environments.
Is this true?
I'm still waiting for the GSM version to come out.
Any comments is appreciated.

I use the Treo 650 Speaker Phone a lot, and I have to say i would agree it's not great, just fair to good in quality. I think it could be louder in some cases, and in a noisy area it just will not cut it at all. It realls seems like the issue is with the speaker and not so much the MIC. As for the GSM model there will be nothing different, we have tried both and they act the same in both cases.

Yes...I'm quite disappointed with the speaker phone quality. Mostly because it isn't simultaneously bi-directional (don't know the tech term). Also, the folks I call say the sound quality is terrible--tinny and at times inaudible--using the phone directly or the speaker phone function.

The tech term for hearing and talking simultaneously is FULL DUPLEX.
It's very hard to accomplish in speaker phone mode because of the FEEDBACK problem (echo and screeching).
