OK another Windows XP Pro and Hotsync problem post.

I am unable to hotsync my new T5. The hotsync manager appears to begin to start up (during the sync attempt there is no response to a right click on the hot sync icon) but connecting to the T5 is not successful. The T5 will time out after a minute or so and give up.

I can run palm file transfer just fine, i.e. transfer files between the T5 and PC via the very same USB connection. When I have file transfer open and initiate a hot sync, I get a notice (from the palm file transfer program) that a hot sync is in progress and the device is unavailable until hotsync is finished. After several seconds there is a notice that the connection was lost to the device. I hear three or four USB connection tones during the hotsync attempt. It looks like the USB link between the PC and T5 goes down while the hot sync manager is attempting to connect to the T5.

No hotsync log is created. I can hotsync this device just fine with a Mac.

I think I've tried all the /remove/reinstall tricks including deleting the oem driver files (there were none remaining after the install) and installing drivers manually.

This is a fresh PC and Palm is the first application to be installed.

I have Windows XP Pro 2002, SP2, build 2000. It is on an older 532 Mhz “686” machine with 128 MB RAM.

Thanks

No fix, it may be an unreliable USB in this older machine. For now I just use another machine.

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro with all the updates and patches. Just recently my T|T5 stopped syncing, but I could do the file transfer thing with no problem. I reinstalled from the CD ROM the desktop. You'll have top look for it because when you insert the CD, the Autorun doesn't offer that option. Look for a setup.exe in one of the subdirectories. Let's see...... I just looked at the CD's directory.... the best I recall the setup.exe is in the Palm Desktop directory. Anyway, once I did that, hotsyncing returned to normal. I hope this helps.
