Are there any drivers for Samsung phones? For sending SMS, etc from a Clie? I tried using the Generic GSM phone driver, but after trying to connect to the phone, it says:

The phone was unable to handle your request.

Please make sure you are using the right driver for your phone.

Are there any drivers at all for Samsung phones? (Mine is the D410)

I assume you are using a UX-50. If so, you will find the phone driver listed above here: Sony Support (http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-software.pl)

Fill in:

-Clie Handheld
-UX Series
-UX-(your model)

Then, select Search, Find PHONEDRIVER121, download, install, try.

Thanks for the reply Smeggie. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to solve my problem.

Hmm. Firstly, it is possible to send and receive SMS on a Clie to a phone over IrDa, correct? Second, how does it normally work?

Currently, I turn my phone's IR port on, as Phone and PC (the other option is phone to phone). Then on the Clie, I have created a new connection in the Phone section, which uses IR to connect to a generic GSM phone. I then line up the IR ports and tap the Test button.

There is some activity, as I can see the icon on the phone change, indicating some interaction going on. However, the Clie will just report the same error as in my first post.

No prob, man.

I think you just told me your problem...IR. It doesn't work too well on the UX which is why none of the remote control software will work on it. (it's extremely, and unacceptably weak from what I understand) So in answer to your question, my answer would be no.

The proximity that you are using IR as well as the line-of-sight method should work but not for sending SMS's, I wouldn't think.

I have never used the IR port on the UX for anything other than some simple file transference so perhaps someone with more UX/IR knowledge will post.

Anyone? :)

I don't think that it's a problem with the actual IR transmission. More so the two not knowing how to communicate.

The TG50 has a powerful IR transmitter, and I couldn't get it to test successfully either. (Actually, with the TG50, it would just keep on trying to connect.. it would never do anything though, no error, no success... so really not any use).

Hmm. Maybe I could try my luck email Samsung you think?
