Only a small number.
There are other AIBO owners with much larger collections:

Canada stopped carrying AIBOs a while ago. The current new model (ERS-7/7M2) is available in US, Europe and Japan (ie. sonystyle.com)
Elsewhere you can order new AIBOs from RoboToys.com (US based, but they sell internationally)
Older model AIBOs are typically available on eBay.

>wow, you have to be very rich to own so many aibos
you DEFINITELY don't need to be rich (or even close to the top tax bracket). I really don't know anything about CP's monetary status, but i thought your statement gave the wrong impression about aibos, which are cool examples of the way autonomous robotics is heading.
>i hated the first aibo because it looked really weird, i guess it wasnt curvy, it was a bit square
If you want curvy, look no farther than the 3xx or 7 series. 7 is described as an hour glass (all curves) and of course you've already seen the cute and affordable 3 series. If you want to do any wireless related stuff, or if you want the most expandability, the 7 is your best bet. otherwise, i'm sure there's a lovely 3 with your name on it.

re: Aibo price
There are many cheaper ways of getting an AIBO.
The current / latest / technologically best model is the ERS-7M2 which is $1900.
Older models are much cheaper ($500 or so)
Since this thread is posted in the VZ90 forum... anyone considering higher priced CLIE PDAs is already spending a lot for their toys.
FWIW: When comparing full retail price - cheaper model AIBOs like the 31x cost less than higher end CLIEs like the NZ or UX (or VZ) - when new.
For those that can rationalize $500 or more for a PDA -- remember a PDA can't walk, roll over, dance or sing...
Robot dogs are not for everyone [another reason to first try a cheaper option before plopping down $1.9K]

> when was the ERS-311 LATTE released?
Sept 2001 in Japan, November/December 2001 in the USA
http://www.jp.aibo.com/aibostory/history/index.html [history of AIBO releases, with Japanese release dates]
The ERS-311 or 312 are now discontinued (but still available direct from Sony in Japan - the model with Bluetooth -- http://www.jp.aibo.com/products/ers_body.html -- around $870 USD not including import fees)
They appear from time-to-time on eBay (eg: ERS-31L on eBay now, $275 bid). Software is discontinued too (unless imported from Japan)

Finally, for general AIBO discussion, where you can meet other AiboOwners, may I suggest the Aibo-Life.org forums

We built a big one out of Lego Mindstorms once at Uni. It was awesome until we started the movement commands. Then it fell over and broke :P
We need Metal Lego!!!!

if you stop and think that there are pedegree dogs that sell in the same price range, it doesn't seem as bad.... Aibo has a long way to compete with animal shelter (pound) friends.... But if you consider pet shops sell dogs at $300-$800 routinely, the Aibo is not unreasonable.

My mom has.. 6? pedigree dogs that are easily worth $1000 to $3000 each.. personally I cannot stand them. I would think an aibo would be a good dog thing if someone was allergic to dogs or if they wanted to just not have a dog and have an aibo. Personally I would be terrified to death of developing feelings for an inanimate recreation of life.
