Or perhaps I'm getting used to it. in any case, I use the tip of my thumbs and it is just fine now. I'm really starting to like this thing and probably won't return it like I do with most of my things. I especially love recording television programs with my Giga Pocket recorder at home, sticking my memory stick in my computer, and then watching my favorite shows while I drive home in awful California traffic.

I turned the stylus upside down and used it to press down (Hard) on each key 2 to 3 times. It made a difference as the keys did loosen up.

Really? how hard do you need to use your stylus to "loosen" the keys up?

two options to loosen up the keys:

1) stylus trick
2) time

Hmm...or maybe you just grew calluses on your thumbs? :p I think that's great news. Next weekend I'll trim off my thumbnails and give the demo units another try. This Clie was the model I had my eye on for so long. So I was majorly bummed when I couldn't use the keyboard AT ALL this past weekend.

I still do think even among the brand new units, there is some variance in how stiff the keyboard is. I really did notice a HUGE difference between the 2 demo units. The one at Circuit City was more comfortable than the one at Best Buy. Of course both were hard for me to type on. I just have to resign myself to never having girly-girl long thumbnails if I want to get this device.

So, Quiller, have you got to play with the TG50 yet? You seemed as interested in it as I was before. Or are you going to try to be very patient and hold out for that dream 320x480 display? I still have to wait regardless of what my next test-drive reveals to me. I still have to save up the money for it. My tax refund is going straight to pay off stuff I already bought from Sony.

nope, still haven't got a chance... i live in the 52nd largest city in the country and neither BestBuy or Circuit City has the TG50 yet. the guy from BestBuy said it took them to weeks until they got the NX90!
