I posted earlier about how I broke my 70v's screen and about the replacement plan I got. I went back to the CompUSA store and they replaced the 70v no questions asked. The guy just checked I had everything in the box and he replaced it... Unfortunately the replacement I got was the last in their stock.. oh so close to getting that NZ model.. oh well (the NZ's look didn't impress me much anyhow)
So to anyone thinking about buying a nx70v I definately recommend you goto CompUSA and get thier extra warranty. The $100 is more than worth it.

yes, I purchased the same for my NX60 since I saw so much positive on this forum. One question though, I know that the CompUSA PDA replacement warranty is a one use warranty. Doesn't the Best Buy one (even though it is repair or replace) last the duration of the term?

You don't want to deal with BestBuy, they will make you repair it no matter what they verbally promise. Go for the CompUsa replacement. There are numerous posts on this forum advocating this. Remember, a deal to good to be true (BB replacement) is a lie.

Especially when Sony charges $250.00 for a replacement screen!
I also had the replacement plan at compUSA since I had the nr version. I brought my NR unit (only the unit without box and accessories) back to the store where i bought the plan, no question ask and now i get the NX70V + new replacement plan for my NX.

I bought mine from bestbuy, but i could not afford the extended warranty at the time. can i go back to get it?
And if so, what is the big problem with bestbuy?

as someone else explained, best buy people will lie to you and call it a replacement. only they will make you REPAIR it THREE times before they will actually replace it.

I don't think you can buy it after you get the palm, besides the fact that bestbuy doesn't offer the same warranty as CompUSA. Appearntly they will not replace it on the spot and I don't think they accept screen damage as a means for replacement. At any rate I wouldn't buy anything expensive at bestbuy to start :p
I've always had good luck with CompUSA even if its my fault.. eg buying wrong kind of memory (and they will take it back, even opened box after I realize my mistake)

I know for a fact that best buy does not repair PDAs, atleast since the NR series came out. Awhile back I bought the first clie that had the mp3 capability (forgot the series) with the best buy warrenty. The first time I used the warrenty I got my clie wet and fried it. Took it back, told them it wasn't working and got another of the same model. The second time for some reason it just stopped working so I turned it in and asked them if I paid the difference (from what I originally paid for it) could I upgrade it. They said yes so I paid what ever the difference was and bought the top Ipaq at the time. Now I was getting sick of the pocketpc OS and missed good ol' reliable palm. So I drained the battery in my Ipaq and took it back to best buy. I simply told them it wouldn't turn on and I exchanged it for the NR7V for free. Now my NR is having some problems with the memory stick so I think I might exchange it for a NX for free.

I bought my nx70 from best buy and for $59.00 got a 3 year exchange warantee and used it once already, and had no problems whatsoever----they are the best I have dealt with

i guess i have to admit that my experience was with my car stereo. i was so pi$$ed that i don't buy anything from them anymore. so i didn't know that they have a different policy for PDA's.
still though their tactic for selling me a repair plan by calling it a replacement still left a bad taste in my mouth so naturally i'm not going to trust what they sell as a replacement plan anymore.

I know they normally repair things but pda s are one of the few exceptions. They told me that "they were too hard to repair..." and that "it's just easier to replace them..."

that is exactly what i was told and they certainly do and "did" replace" with no problem

I did read in the past that someone did this. They called the CompUSA store and got someone to agree to do this. The person returned the unit, then purchased the unit along with the warranty. Good Luck

some people do get lucky and have no problems with the bestbuy warranty..but the thing is you're coming in gambling....b/c in the contract they don't have to do anything you say...they can just go by the contract...
