Is there any way to delete Sony apps in ROM on my NX70V? I want to install a weight watcher app for Palm but it requires 5 MB free space. I know I can transfer some apps to the memory stick and launch them for there, but I also wonder if it is possible to override Sony's "delete protection" for some of these Sony apps in ROM?

The only app capable of removing apps from ROM is JackSprat and it is incompatible with
Sony PDAs. So the answer to your question is unfortunately no. However, if you are looking for some extra internal space you should consider getting JackFlash (www.brayder.com) which gives the NX70 an extra 4.5mb.

Hi,

I own a NX70V and bought JackFlash - but I only got 2.8 Megs of Flash -- This seems to be a problem of the european version (NX70V/E), because it has more language files in rom (english+german+french), while the us-version (NX70V/U) has just english language files.

Just for info ;)

Why not just run the app from the MS itself? Just hotsync it to MS instead of internal.

I wonder what kind of delete protection Sony has engineered into their Handhelds. Actually, why does one want to hinder users from removing bundled software if they don't like it. Even M$ allows OEMs to include an option to remove word, etc from the Computer.

Sony didn't put any type of deletion protection. The end user is not supposed to be able to manipulate the ROM (Read Only Memory). The people at Brayder figured out a way to add things to the ROM for many PalmOS handhelds and how to remove things for some of those. Brayder has not been able to figure out how to remove items from the ROM in Sony's (and I think they aren't trying anymore). As it is, Clies come with much more ROM space the Pa1mOnes.
