Hi guys,
I was planning on getting either a Th-55 or a T|5 to go along with my ppc. I didn't see anything exciting in the T|5, or why it was worth that much over the T|3, so I purchased one from staples for $249.99. They didn't have any in store, so I have to wait until either Friday or Monday before it comes in. (It's shipping from Oklahoma to texas via UPS, ordered at 2:30PM, anyone think it will come in on Friday?) I think I got a good deal. Anyways, I just wanted to say that, and I guess I'll see ya'll when I see ya. BTW, do you have any software recommendations for a HS Senior? I haven't used a palm in a while, so i'm not sure what to get... Thanks

I got the same deal at my local Staples but they still had one in stock. I couldn't find a NEW T3 anywhere else for less that around $300.

I have spent the last couple days migrating from my old Sony Clie T665c. The T3 is great. I watched a full-length 2-hour movie on it last night (MMPlayer playing a DivX formatted movie).

You really need to check out Softick Card Export II. It is an app you launch on your T3 while it is connected to a computer with a USB port. It effectively makes your T3 a card reader for an SD card. You can drag and drop files onto your SD card from the computer's file manager without the computer having Palm Desktop installed.

In case you want to make your Palm become really cool, here are my favourites/essentials:
1)Filez This Freeware File manager alows you to manage all data on your expansion card. Delete, create,... files as you see fit
2)Plucker-an ebook reader, also freeware! Really useful, as it can spider entire Web Pages...(get the Palmsource documentation, first volume of Programmer's companion really helps every new user)
3)Visit tamspalm.blogspot.com for News and Infos
Well, and then, just try out what you want! Have fun and tell us what you like better!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I haven't used a POS handheld since May!

Well, then you can basically keep on using your old apps! They will usually profit from the faster procesor and the additional RAM. BTW, what handheld did you have before?

I had a few. The Sony SJ-20, the Treo 90, and the Tungsten | E. I erased all the software because everyone convinced me that "Pocket PC is sooo much better than palm." It really isn't.

I'm sure you'll love it. Many of us T3 owners think that it is still better than the T5. ;)

I've even given up on Cobalt. They'll probably invent a reason not to let us upgrade anyway.....

I'm a relatively new user myself. I'm trying to figure out Zlauncher. It does so many things and work out issues with Kinoma Ex3 and Mmplayer. What's the deal with the slider? a lot of people seem to hate it. I think it's great. It makes the T3 fit in my shirt pocket quite nicely.

I replaced my Clie NX80 with a T3 back in October at Staples under the same deal. $249.99. I called my closest store and they were out of stock... but the electronics guy was really nice and checked the inventory at all the other Columbus area stores for me and found one. I called the store and had them hold it for me.

After toying with a T5 in the store, I'm actually glad I went with the T3. My NX80 was bulky and long. The T5 reminded me somewhat of it, as it is long also. I really like the slider option on the T3. It's nice to carry my PDA comfortably in my back pocket again. Now if only there was a cheaper alternative for a WiFi card on the T3, I'd be in heaven!

I also was going to buy the service plan at Staples, but decided against it. I ended up buying PalmOne's service warranty instead. Staples wanted $80 compared to P1's $50 for roughly the same thing. Granted, P1's requires mail-in and possibly getting a refurb unit if I have to use it... The Staples warranty would let me get instore replacement or credit towards a newer model. That's about the biggest difference I see in the two policies. (My take on extended service plans... After my M505 died three weeks past it's warranty date, I decided to buy a service plan when I got my Clie at Best Buy. Good thing I did, as I went through three Clie's before I finally got a good one. With that experience, I decided that extended warranties can be worth it.)

Enjoy your T3!
