If the SJ-22 and SJ-30 are practically the same unit with a hundered dollar price difference, then what's the point of going to all the trouble of relabeling and remarketing it again?

to give new life to a newly positioned product - now entry level colors screen for $200 bucks, whereas the SJ30 was considered midlevel at its time.

I would guess Sony wants to drop Docs to Go on it's entry level handhelds. Since the SJ30 is now entry level Sony just droped in in the SJ20 caseing, relabeled it and took out the more expensive to lisence software. But I could be wrong.

Why? Because Sony wanted me to feel stupid for just buying the SJ30. :D

The Point of the SJ-22 is the fact that it was a upgrade to the sj-20 which was black and white, not color like the SJ-22 and other stuff was upgraded
So you asking yourself why not get a SJ-30 well the big difference between the SJ-30 and the SJ-22 is the MP3 player if you dont want a MP3 player because you have a iRiver SlimX 350,why dont you save a few bucks and get a SJ-22.
Also I heard that they fixed a few bugs that the SJ-30 and SJ-20 had.

I think the point of the SJ22 is that Sony simply found a cheaper way of making the SJ20 with colour. And it probably saves them money by being able to get rid of the black and white screen as it's the only product in their line that uses it.

It was mid-range when it came out. It dosn't have the features to be mid-range anymore so there repackaging it as an entry level device. That's all I was saying.

The b&w S320/360 started at $199. Now, the same amount gets you a transflective screen, unlike the inferior DSTN in Palm m130.

I looked at the 22. It's a carbon copy (outwardly... didn't get a chance to take it apart) of the sj30, but comes with kinoma instead of gmovie. Other than that, everything it looked, felt and sounded the same. Just another corporate repackaging of the same product and calling it "new."
