I just got an NR70v on ebay (doesn't have a battery, so I'll put one in to get the whole deal for under $200), and need to get a folding keyboard for it. I really liked the Palm Portable Keyboard (stowaway) that I had for my IIIc, but the clie version is expensive, and I couldn't find it on ebay. However, compUSA has an m5xx stowaway for only $10. Both the m5xx and nr70v use the palm universal connector, so would an m500 keyboard work with my nr70v?

As for the keyboard, I doubt it.
I'm more worried about the battery, the only way to get one is to have it sent off to Sony for a lot of money to have one put in (at your expense), or buy another NR70 that is dead except or the battery then canabalize the dead one.

Actually, I was going to buy the battery from cliebattery.com.

Um, 'fraid not. The Palm universal connector is not the Sony universal connector.

yea, I guess I heard wrong. Thanks guys.
P.S. Rob - I've known about cliebattery.com for a while, too, and like you, I thought they'd NEVER have anything but "coming soon." Luckily for me, the only battery they DO have is the one I need.

The really funny thing is, I think it has SJ batteries, which is the other palm I own.
PS: I bought a busted NR70 from here for the same price (+$10 shipping) because I also needed a batter cover.
Would you believe that sony doesn't consider that a "user servicable part?"

no, the only battery they have, other than a "universal battery extender," is the NR/NX battery. the SJ/SL is still "coming soon."
It's hard to believe that a battery isn't user servicable (at least not officially), but I guess there are some REAL idiots out there. Next thing I know, I'll need a "certified technician" to replace the AAs in my CD player.

I think it is just because you have to open the device to get at the battery. According to one site, disassembling the NR70 was a royal pain, but he didn't say anything about just opening it. Yeah, pretty soon we will need techs to open battery compartments and replace little cylinders.

If you do it just right, you can replace the battery without taking off the entire back, just the battery cover part. It's kinda tough to get the connector pulled out that way while the battery is still in there. Putting a new battery in with the back cover still on is a piece of cake. And the hardest part of taking off the entire back cover is making sure you don't lose those tiny little screws.
