SD 512mb Card in Treo 650 Very Slow...

:( Not happy at all... Has anyone seen how slow it is? Kingston now offers a faster card SD Elite Pro Hi-Speed SD Card over the standard SD Card. Anyone using this? or have some ideas on this?

The killer part is trying to take a picture with the SD Card as the target for a Live Save of the picture. Plus the wait time for the refresh of the camera using the SD Card makes me sick! Maybe I should look at a MMC card, is this faster?

Minus the Camera part, when using the Snapper E-Mail App, same thing. Saving an attachment in the E-Mail takes forever too. Go ahead and try to use SplasPhoto and move a few pictures around, and it's a whole day affair waiting for the copy to finish.

Any Ideas?

Scott

Sounds like you just have a slow card. Check out the manufacturer via the Card Info program on your Treo. If it is SanDisk or Toshiba, chances are that is the reason for the slowness. SanDisk cards have been reported to be really slow. My suggestion would be to asking Kingston if they would be willing to do an exchange for you and maybe you will get a faster card.

One thing to note about buying memory cards, cheaper cards are usually slower.

Thanks, I just checked and it is a Toshiba SD Card with the Kingston Logo on it. I'll contact them on this because it was far from cheap.

Thank,

Scott

YES...... trust me.... i know that feeling......

Slow memory card on pda IS true pain... so i recommend that all will buy faster memory card than just those usual !

Warning: Don't buy sd ultra 2 memory card, it fast as HELL, but it does not work 100% on palmone devices... i tested it and i returned it to store because it didn't work properly...

As far as the Kingston Elite - Was it the Treo 650 model the the one tht had problems causing you to return this? I got the following from Kingston Tech Support, so I might go ahead and use this Elite SD Card over one of the other Sand Disk SD II at 40x speed.

Hello Scott,

Thanks for your reply. I have talked with my product engineer and was told
that the SD/512-S would also work in your Treo 650 because she also checked
with Palm.
