I have a non-networked XP Home PC at home which hotsync's with my T5 without any glitches. However, my office XP Pro PC, which is networked, has not hotsync'd from day 1. Do I need different sync software? Is the fact that the work PC is networked the issue? This is critical since hotsyncing with my work PC is more critical than with the home PC. Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't make any difference whether or not the PC is connected to a network. I successfully sync my T5 to my home PC (WinXP Home) and my work PC (Win2000) using the same HotSync name. Both are connected to a LAN.
How do you try to sync? Via sync cable, Bluetooth or WiFi? It should actually work with all three methods (it does it for me). You only need to install the Palm Desktop that comes with the T5 on your work PC. I suppose you want to sync to Outlook, so you have to select this option during the install process. Don't forget to select the connection you want to use in the HotSync manager setup (e.g. Local USB for the sync cable).
Please note that pa1mOne recently released updated HotSync conduits for Outlook. You can find them here: http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/outlookconduitupdaterv102.html. You may also quickly check pa1mOne's knowledge base on hotsyncing. Perhaps it's helpful. You'll find it here: http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Problem=obj(24021)

Since you're able to HotSync only on the non-networked PC, it could be that windows is assigning a conflicting network drive. Had the same problem, couldn't HotSync or use Drive Mode on my PC. Everything works seamlessly on my Mac (as expected), so figured windows was the problem and it was. Had to map a drive letter specifically for my T5 so that windows would connect and recognize. What a pain.
