Is there a bottom bar button for the file manager? As full featured as ZLauncher is, I'm having a hard time believing there isn't one; however, if it exists I'm having a hard time finding it!?!

Did you minimized the bottom bar? If you did, you can either pop it up by tapping on the small icon at the lower right hand corner or by /Menu/App/Toggle Bottom Bar

There isn't a dedicated File Manager gadget, but I use the "Popup Setup List" tool for easy access to File Manager and Theme Manager and the other setup menus.
I'm sure others have asked ZZTechs for a dedicated button, so there probable wiil be one soon.

No, it doesn't exist yet, but they really need to add it. You can use the Popup Setup List button and click on it and then choose File Manager, but they need a one-click button. I'm assuming they haven't done this because it would involve changing the skin structure, but I really think it's needed. Let's all write in and maybe we'll get it in 2.4.

Someone on the zLauncher Yahoo! Group (mfduke2000, message #130) asked about a File Manager gadget. The response "I'll consider it."
This will also the answer to questions about support for Bluetooth, SnapperMail, and manually arranged icons. Note that the answer to that last one was also "but it might not be implemented soon."
Personally, I'd rather they did away with another gadget which isn't as useful (do I really need a gadget to open the menu bar?). Of course, any solution would require a new graphic in the skin.

zztech wrote back that they have a plan for adding the file manager gadget in.

Question: does the file manager let you rename a file? I can't see how to do that. Or, am I just missing it. Also, it seems that if you do a file copy and then hit the "Rename" button, nothing happens. Is this a bug or just me?

Select the file information. Change the name shown at the top then hit Save.

wusen, I tried that. The file name area is protected, and I can't change it. I think that I was able to change it in one of the beta's, but I can't change the name in the released version. FWIW I have a T615

It seems to depend on the file. If it's a file that used by an app, you can't change it because then the app wouldn't be able to find it. You can change app names.

I too have the T615 and am using the released version, so bobbd could be right about file dependency.
I have renamed jpg files and pdb doc files without any problem.

That's it! I can change app names. However, it does get curiouser and curiouser. I have a file that is a document (that I read with Tealdoc) with a ".prc" extension whose name the file manager will let me change when the file is on the MS, but if I copy it to RAM, then I can no longer change the name. McFile will let me change the name no matter where the file is. Go figure!
