Noisy Screen

I just upgraded from a T615 to a SJ33. the sj33 is a huge improvement overall for me. The only strange thing is, the other day i was using it in the bathroom at work and notices a high pitched noise coming from my palm. I listened a bit closer and figured out it was coming from the screen. after further investigation i also noticed that when my screen is turned on and im playing mp3s, that the noise comes through my headphones but not through the speaker on the back side. Has anyone else had this problem? and if so, have you found a solution?

Usually, buzzing of the screen is normal; all handhelds I've seen do it. However, I've never heard of it coming thrugh the headphones while playing MP3s.

I just got a SJ33 and my screen also has the high pitch noise. Is this common for color screen Clies? My previous SJ20 did not do that, or at least it wasn't so anoying...

What kind of noise are you getting through the headphones?

I could hear the buzzing of the screen from my SJ30, but not my T665.

On my SJ33, I can hear the high pitch noise when the screen is on (regardless of the backlight). And only from the front, from the screen side. It is very high, probably coming from the screen refresh, but still anoying if you keep the PDA close enough. I am trying to find if this is a problem with my device or is common among other SJ33s.

Same here, I've been able to hear the screen "buzz" on both my CLIE and my Visor :)

There are two kind of noises that come from the screen, so I want to make sure that you talk about the one I am concerned about. The first is low tone, buzz-like, that comes from the power inverter of the backlight, and it's only heard when the backlight is on. I heard this kind of noise in other LCD screens too, mono or color, when the backlight is on. The other is a low pitch whining like noise (towards the higher end of the audible spectre, some people do not hear it, but for others can be annoying). It comes from the screen side, regardless of the backlight (on or off).

Can you hear this one any other screens that you have? Is it like the noise that comes from tvs?

I only hear that one my ear is pressed against the screen, and it goes away when I turn the backlight off. Its nothing to worry about.

Yes, it's like that noise (high frequency).

So it is from the transformer. Well, theres nothing you can do about that sadly.
