Received my Brando Ultra Clear screen protector for the T5. I did my research and determined that the best value is to buy either the Brando Ultra Clear or the Martin Fields Overlay.

The main factor for me was "clarity".

I can report that the Brando Ultra Clear is, in fact, ULTRA CLEAR. You really cannot even tell that you're using a protector. The feel of the stylus against the protector is perfect and the screen colours are outstanding.

I highly recommend it.

The only con, and I think this would apply to all screen protectors, is that it is a pain to put on. I recommend that you take the time to put it on right the very first time so you don't have to play around with scotch tape to get rid of the dust particles. I almost had it perfect the first time except for one air bubble. Decided to redo it and it took me about 15 tries. I almost threw the thing out. On my last try I was left with four little air bubbles which I could only detect when the screen was off. Otherwise, they are undetectable.

Hope this helps those of you trying to decide on a screen protector.

BTW, the protector took about 7-8 business days to arrive in Canada.

I've had pretty good luck with the PalmOne "universal" protectors that you cut to fit whichever Palm you have. It's a good thing they come in a kit of 12 protectors because I've fouled-up a couple taking them off after screwing-up the application :o . They don't last as long as I'd like. I've had one on my T5 since I got it and it needs to be replaced. They do show wear on highly used spots....

Brando UltraClear hands down is the best screen protector I've had. I got in on the very first try.

Extremely clear.

Some advice on air bubbles:

As long as there is not a tiny speck of dust actually causing the air bubble, it will dissipate over time, so it's not worth worrying about them, especially since they are not noticeable with the screen on.

Anyone try the screen protectors from Boxwave (http://www.boxwave.com/products/categories/screen_protectors.htm) ? The Brando Ultra Clears are nice, tough to put on, but really attract the dust. I'm finding my screen looks real messy all the time.

Are you finding it attracts dust AFTER it was installed or during the installation process? Although I had a hell of a time getting it on, once on it works great. Doesn't attract any more dust than what it did without the screen protector.

Try this:

Get some anti static monitor screen cleaner, spay it on a cloth and clean your PDA screen with it. It should do the trick.

This shouldn't be an issue, but make sure it is safe to use on your screen before doing this. Most computer screen cleaners don't pose a threat, but it never hurts to be cautious.

The static is after the install. I did find it a bit difficult to apply and also gave up with a couple of small bubbles left. You don't see them when the Palm is on. Thanks for the tip with the screen cleaner - I'll give it a try.

I use JavoScreen. I originally bought it to replace the protector that came with my new T3. I didn't realize I was paying for ONE screen. I had been using cheapo multi-pak protectors on my older PDA's. It turned out to be a happy accident. The Javo is durable, washable, and reduces glare quit a bit. I'm very happy with it.

I have some Endust Anti-static wipes will these be safe to use? My scanner isn't scanning it very well so I can't get a picture of it, but it says they are safe for laptop screens on it and I have used them on my laptop screen. I'm also wondering how Brando Ultra Clear compares to the Fellowes WriteRight. I used them on my T E and I noticed they were decent but at about 3 weeks of use it got pretty dull looking with spots of heavy use being the worst having a foggy look to it. I'd actually continue to use it past this point just putting up with the foggy spot until they got worse just to save on frequency of changing them.

WriteRights are crap. They are less clear and scratch very easily. I have also used the Martin Fields screen protectors for my TH55. They are also excellent and have lasted almost 8 months. I have heard good reports on the Brando Ultra Clear protectors. My only issue with the heavier weight protectors was with my digitizer on my TH55.. it caused recognition errors when I first applied it but when I removed it, reset my device and reapplied it with less pressure, worked fine. This problem was well documented at the old Cliesource and seemed to only affect the TH55. Other than that, they are great !!

Can I really expect these more expensive screen protectors to keep a nice brand new look. There are quite a few spots on my palm especial the area the graffiti thing is (with the T5 this can be in more than one area when rotating the screen). I would have to spend this kind of money and in lets say like 4-6 months thinking man this screen looks terrible I need to replace the protector to get that nice clear look again. With the WriteRights I didn't get to thinking time to replace until after about 2 months. Although at about 3 weeks they started to get those foggy looking spots especially in the heavy use areas.

This is from another "related" thread but obviously has application here given that I started this thread in the first place and commented favourably on the Brando Ultra Clear Screen Protector.

Well, for what it's worth, I bought the Brando Ultra Clear after doing my research and was very impressed at first with the clarity of the screen protector. Four weeks later (yesterday actually), I finally removed it as I felt that it was attracting too much dust, smudges etc... and making the T5 screen look awful in bright lighting.

I never used screen protectors in the past and I am going back to this practice. In my view, a screen protector just takes too much away from what is otherwise a beautiful screen. Yes, I know that I am taking a risk and might scratch the screen but at the end of the day, I'd like to be able to enjoy the screen. This whole experience has led me to the conclusion that people are spending so much time and money trying to protect the screen that in the end they don't even have a chance to enjoy it. Kinda like buying a Sony Plasma TV but never taking it out of its plastic wrap for fear that it might get damaged. Sometimes you just have to enjoy it while it lasts.

Only my thoughts.
