Bitmaps Cliepet?

Cliepet, are the JPEG files created by Clie cameras a lossy form of JPEG, and if so, is it possible to create a camera app that will store pictures as Bitmaps instead, or has the JPEG conversion already taken place in hardware before this would be possible.

The Sony CapLib/CapLib2 returns allows you to capture as JPG or raw image data.
When saving as JPG, you can set the quality level. If you bump up the quality, the files get larger but the amount of loss is reduced.

The raw image data is only available as 16 bit color (the same as the screen). You could save that as a bitmap if you wanted. I assume the JPG version will have much more color depth.

The cameras in most CLIEs are not that great to begin with.
