has anyone tried overclocking their clie to 900mhz or more? whats the highest you have overlcocked it to?

The UX, TH, and VZ series cannot be overclocked, to my knowledge, because there are hardcoded limitations. Clies using an ARM processor can probably be overclocked to some degree, but I have never tried on my TG-50.

Using PXA Clocker 4.1 I can overclock my NX73 up to 300 and downclocked to 100.

I use PXA clocker too. It theorethically allows me to set my Tungsten T3 to 1600MhZ, but that leads to a hardreset immediately. I think that each Unit's tolerances are pretty much individual, so try it out after making a backup...

Hey guys, so i have been doing some overclocking test on my NX73 with PXA Clocker, and hopefully this will give you an idea on what speed you should overclock to.

First of all, it seems that using 100mhz for system default will cause system to be unstable, its better to leave your system default at 200mhz and set certain programs like audioplayers and such to 100mhz. But to be totally honest, setting certain programs to 100mhz will not save that much battery, well from my tests i have done, didn't really make a difference. Lowest i set all my programs to is 200mhz(Default). But instead of using the default system settings, you can use the other route to get 200mhz to achieve some more speed, check the test results.

Now for programs where you need some extra speed like Netfront and MobileTS, PalmVNC and such, i have tried every combination of speed to see which one was optimal, and the best speed was at 266mhz instead of 354mhz. 266mhz, is most stable and is a good balance of speed and stability.

Heres the test results using Speedy:
(Tests were verified using Netfront)

200mhz (System Default)
Mem Clk: x27
CPU Clk: x1
Turbo: x2.0
Result: 200mhz

200mhz (Recommended Overclock, will give more speed at same mhz)
Mem Clk: x27
CPU Clk: x2
Turbo: x1.0
Result: 244mhz

266mhz (Best and very stable)
Mem Clk: x36
CPU Clk: x2
Turbo: x1.0
Result: 323mhz

300mhz (2nd Best, and pretty stable)
Mem Clk: x27
CPU Clk: x2
Turbo: x1.5
Result: 333mhz

266mhz (Better)
Mem Clk: x36
CPU Clk: x1
Turbo: x2.0
Result: 263mhz

354mhz (Not Recommended, Unstable)
Mem Clk: x32
CPU Clk: x1
Turbo: x3.0
Result: 300mhz

294mhz (Fastest but "Very" unstable, might cause Hard Reset)
Mem Clk: x40
CPU Clk: x2
Turbo: x1.0
Result: 370mhz

Conclusion
So from my tests, i would recommend the following speeds:
266mhz (Best and very stable)
Mem Clk: x36
CPU Clk: x2
Turbo: x1.0
Result: 323mhz

300mhz (2nd Best, and pretty stable)
Mem Clk: x27
CPU Clk: x2
Turbo: x1.5
Result: 333mhz

I usually set my program which require some more power to 266mhz, its very stable.

But remember overclocking to "any" speed may cause hard resets, make sure you have a full backup before trying any of these settings. My tests were only done on NX73, so not sure if you will get the same results on the NX80 or any of the NX series.

Try to increase Memory Transfer rate instead of pure clock speed. This is one of the oldest hints of overclocking..
When you increase the memory clock, the processor usually gets faster. But since its Memory is faster too, it can access data faster->nice performance boost!
I run my T3 at 147MhZ(Mem to max, everything else at 1) and it is still fast enough. However, running at 100MhZ is damn slow...

Hey Tam, that actually is not 100% true, i also thought that same thing, that memory clock will speed up much more then cpu clock, but as you can see in my tests, sometimes lower memory clock gave better results, and sometimes higher memory clock gave better results..

I got my NX80 to 500-something MHz once with PXA Clocker. It was EXTREMELY unstable. I had to run the benchmarking program about 5 times before I finally was able to run it, save the results, and then it crashed immediatly after.

Never the less, it was a proud moment. I wish I could find the memo file so I could get the exact speed and how exactly I did it.

Well, I will install Speedy tomorrow and then will run a few tests that will be posted in my blog!

i got my nz90 to 472mhz but i was afraid to overclock it even faster so i was wondering if anyone has tried 900mhz or +++ on their clie,

Hey jonblayz, with the recommended overclocks listed. How does your battery hold up?

not too bad.. i actually set all my extensive programs to 354mhz, and well its actually not that bad. But when i do wifi on netfront 3.1 oc'd to 354mhz, it usually drops from 100% battery to 75% within 10-15 mins.. But i usually have it plugged in when i'm surfing on my palm.

I have done quiet few more test in the last week, and have come to a conclusion to leave all your apps to default (200mhz) and only oc'd the ones you really need to 354mhz which is most stable.

Best overclock speed is:

354mhz (VERY RECOMMENDED, STABLE)
Mem Clk: x32
CPU Clk: x2
Turbo: x1.5
Result: 390mhz

354mhz it gave BEST performance, and seems to be VERY stable, the 266mhz that i last recommended the most gave me actually few soft resets, 354mhz so far has done me great. And oc'd to 354mhz actually was clocked at 390mhz. Now now speed is better then that. 2x the original 200mhz. But make sure you only use 354mhz for stuff that require alot of process.

Did anyone evaluated if NX80 clie camera fast exposure resolution could be enhanced by overclocking?

Thanks, :)
