I don't have much time to get into all the details but here it goes as best as I can.

- your BT phone will be your modem so you won't need extra modem.

- treat your nz as if where a laptop and configure it the way you did when you first setup your account with the internet.

- go to NETWORK on the settings of the nz and there is where you will put your user name and password and so forth.

- than go to connection settings with in your nz and make a NEW connection to find you BT phone. Make sure you setup your phone to be able to accept a partnership ot PAIRED with your nz.

I'm sure others her will help you out in better detail but at least now you know a LITTLE bit more.

I tried this today but couldn't get it to work. The phone was recognized fairly easily via bluetooth and i could get it to dial the provider phone numbers but i couldn't get it to establish the connection. I wasn't sure what to choose for a service. I have pacbell service but they aren't listed, i tried using Unix and Windows RAS but that didn't work. Can someone who has done this give us some hints perhaps?

I have a NZ 90 and an Ericsson T68i.

I use BT as a connection and Internet works fine for me.

At the beginning I had tremendous difficulties just like you as I managed to have the phone dialling the number but the connections did not go through.

I have checked my parameters about 1000 times and then I realized that the NZ 90 brings as an option on the parameters the script.

My Internet provider does not request any particular script (thing I did not know) and the settings in my phone did present some kind of script. What I did, was to erase the script and it worked fine.

Maybe this is your case.

Good Luck.

Eduardo :)

Hi, sorry to jump in on this thread, but I'm afraid that i'm having the same problemb connecting the nx via bluetooth to my mobile a nokia 7650. i tried all the above, and my machine posts the following Error message:Serial:timeout could be bad cable or faulty modem. (0x0305) as soon as i try to connect....no time for the modem to engage!! Any help gratefully received. ISP is compuserve, i checked the script and it's the one i use as a dial up with my powerbook, so it's cool.

Make sure you first set your PHONE up to login to the internet. Add the user name and password and go through all the things needed. When you are able to make a connection to the internet and even getting your email you will know your phone is SET and now you know any problem will be from the nz-nx.

The first thing ou need to do is setup a connection between your phone and the sony.

Go to the phone (I have the T68i) and do the following:

- click CONNECT ICON
- SCROLL TO BLUETOOTH
- LINKED DEVICES

Now before you continue go to your sony and do the following:

- click on prefrences
- right top corner scroll to connection
- click on bottom left "NEW"

A name will be set as maybe Custom 1-2. Change it to ANY name you want. I have ericsson, make it unique so you will know for sure that it's YOUR connection you setup.

Now go to:

- CONNECT TO: choose PHONE
- VIA: CHOOSE BLUETOOTH (or Ifrared if you will be using it that way).
- DEVICE: You will need to TAP TO DISCOVER.

BEFORE you press the TAP TO DISCOVER option go back to your t68i and click on the ADD DEVICE option.

Now tap on the discover screen on your sony.

The phone will be the first to find the sony and will promp you to accept the connection, click yes and than the password will be 0000 now the sony will ask if you want to accept so you will need to put 0000 and press ok. Now you will need to press the YES on your phone because it will ask if you want to save it to your devices (or something like that). The same will be true with the sony.

NOTE: Make sure you click on DETAILS after the connection has been set and click on the SPEED and choose 115,200bps. You will also need the t68i driver which must be installed before you do all this.. You can get that at the sony ericsson website or elsewhere. You may also want to just try to add the INIT STRING yourselve but I don't know if it will work. X1E0+CMEE=1;+CSCS=";V1

OK, I hope all this is making sense. Now you need to click on the top right of the sony again and choose NETWORK.

Add a name for your SERVICE , prodigy, compuserve or whatever.
-USER NAME
-PASSWORD
-CONNECTION: make sure you choose the name of the connection you just created above.
-PHONE

When done try it out and click CONNECT.

Sometimes it taled 2 times to dial before making a connection. IF after 2 times you are not connected do the following:

- connect with your phone to make sure IT'S connecting ok.
- reset the sony and the phone.

Hope your connected now!

Let us know is you are not and will see what happened.

Does the Bluetooth connection only work with Sony Ericson phones? I have a Nokia phone with Bluetooth. It doesn't mention on teh specs if it comes with a built in modem.

I can establish a connection between the two devices via Bluetooth and make the phone dial the modem number, but i'm worried that now the phone is recognizing a modem on the other line and just refusing to connect.

phalse, I don't own a nokia but it will work. You just need to set them up as I mentioned above. Yes it will be different but the principles are the same. You need to BOND the nokia and sony as partners and move on to YOUR internet settings. You nokia has a built in modem so don't worry just get the connection settings right and you will be online. Also I found BLAZER to be a fast web browser, netfront is way to slow for me.

I'm also having a problem making the BT to T68i connection. Everything works fine if I make an IR connection, but if I try to do the Bluetooth connection I immediately get an error message that says: error: Serial:timeout. Could be bad cable or faulty modem. (0x0305).

Any ideas?

Feel free to email me and I will give you my phone number and I will walk you through it. Hope you got long distance services cause I'm in Chicago. I'm well known in the pocket pc world so no need to feel timid in calling a strager.

Thanks.

George or Eduardo,

What phone carrier are the two of you using??

I have the NZ90 and T68i with ATT using an ATT worldnet account..

I have just realized that ATT charges me to use "MMode" by default.

Who are you using for direct dial in?

I have T-Mobile and use gsm to dial in. It's a slow connection but with blazer it speeds things up. Using GPRS with the sony should be no problem as well. It's all on setting things right the first time and from there you are home free. You can also call ATT and they will help you set it up as well. I use to have ATT and was able to connect at FAST speeds but this was with a ipaq.

P.S. THUNDERHAWK mentioned that they are working to make it for the palm. TH is a very fast browser but costs $50.00 a year for very good reason and well worth it!

I called Sony Support to see if they could help me figure out what i was doing wrong. They told me that the only way to do it is with a Sony Ericson phone using the T-Mobile service. They said only those phones had the right "thing" to connect to a service only T-Mobile supports. I can only assume he's talking about a proprietary protocol but he wouldn't tell me what it was.

Support is giving you a load of CRAP!

There are, I don't know how many AT&T people here that are connected.

and I am on Verizon with a Motorola 270c and I connected without any trouble.
