Handango is giving away 1 free application away each week. They are actually worth something, unlike Palm Gear's little trick off. You have to have a GoPass account with them first and when purchasing just select Gift Card (or something). If you get an error message during registration, but got pass, name and e-mail and got the error on the pick a device page, don't worry, you'll get an e-mail shortly/your already logged in (if I remember correctly).

As a thank you for an amazing year, we want to give you something in return, FREE SOFTWARE. That's right....we're giving away FREE software. Beginning November 30, 2004, each week we'll feature new software for FREE until January 31, 2005. Get the scoop on how to redeem your FREE software below.
To get your FREE software:

1. Check out the other great software titles by this week's feature Developer
2. Scroll down to the free app and click FREE DOWNLOAD
3. Download and enjoy your new software!

Last Week: SplashMoney by SplashData - 19.95 value (announced in another thread)
December 24: MoblieDB by Handmark - $19.99 value

Once you've logged in go HERE (http://www.handango.com/HandangoHolidayPromo.jsp?siteId=1&jid=76B5348XF32989BF67B528D6ED6X339X&platformId=1) and you'll see a bunch of discounted software titles, scroll all the way to the bottom for the free app.

anyone have any idea how to create mobiledb databases?? I really dont think $30 for a excel plugin is good vfm (especially when when the palm app is free at the moment...). I am using pilotdb with jpilot-db which is ok but a bit clunky (java, not supported any more).

any guidance?

I did not install it yet, as I have no use for the program as of now. But why not try the link included with that email and download the full version again. Maybe that might work.

You have to contact the developer via the info given in the purchase e-mail. They will then send you a reg. code...

I sent them an e-mail on Monday and still have not heard back from the folks at Shapeservices. I assumed it was because of all the downloads from Handango, but maybe not... anyone else get their registration code?

This week's free app is Plot4, a "Connect Four" facsimile. Word of note... it does require a Java runtime installed on your PDA.

I hate to complain about something free, but it seems like they would have come up with something a little better to make up for their Password Plus fiasco. (I really shouldn't complain, since I was one of the fortunate ones that got the full Password Plus app).

I usually avoid these apps that require additional "runtime" apps be installed. I suppose that "runtime" concept is efficient if you use several apps that use that particular "runtime" app, but if you only use one app that requires it, it seems to really suck memory.
