Handango is giving away a different free app each week through Jan 31 2005.

See this link (https://www.handango.com/gopassAccount.jsp?siteId=1&jid=6A3B6A7DX331E918F54825F749BXCBE2&platformId=&sitekey=freeapp).

This week it's MobileDB (http://www.handmark.com/products/detail.php?id=1) If you've never tried this ... it is a FANTASTIC APP !!!!

It normally sells for around $20.

See this review of MobileDB (http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/n/2781.html).

You can find many free MobileDB documents (databases) at www.memoware.com (http://www.memoware.com/), or you can create your own.

The easiest way to find MobileDB documents at memoware is to use Advanced Search (http://www.memoware.com/?screen=advanced_search) and then just search for document type = MobileDB, Platform = Palm. You can leave the other search criteria blank or "as is".

You can also download free databases at www.mobiledb.com (http://www.mobiledb.com/).

As I recall, there is a MobileDB desktop component which lets you create your own databases, and import data from other formats.

I believe the free Handango app changes around Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thanx For The Info...

I went to Handango and started to sign up. I bailed the moment they REQUIRED to store my credit card info as part of being a "Member". Quite frankly, they have NO GOOD REASON to require that they store sensitive info in their database. I'm not comfortable with that...

You can sign up without filling in credit card information. Just skip those fields. All you need to fill in to get one of the free applications is your address.

that's correct, and the reason they ask for the cc is because presumably one is also at some point buying software from handango. but yes, you can resister without providing your cc, and bear in mind that they free app a week also includes ppc and the other formats that handago sells. it's a nice treat for the few weeks left.

When you go to the checkout to purchase the app, the amount will be $0.

You do not need to provide any type of monetary information such as credit card numbers.

Handango will send you an email confirming the purchase, and a second email with your registration number. The emails come within minutes.

As a side note ... Handango is also giving away free Pocket PC software as well. This week they are giving away WebIS Email, by the makers of Pocket Informant. It is a $25 program. Pocket Informant is the number one rated calendar/PIM for PPC, so WebIS Email is likely an excellent program as well.

It's worth downloading both the free Palm and PPC programs, just in case you one day own a PPC. :)
