I tried a program called "Graffiti Anywhere" that I downloaded from Palmgear.com. It lets you use the whole screen to write graffiti on. It works with the TG-50. I assigned the program to the jog dial.
Now I can use either the keyboard or write on the screen, or both. Unlike the built-in virtual graffiti, this one still lets you see the form you are trying to fill in.
The price is right, too. Free!

Thank you for the information. I will try this out as soon as I can get to a computer I can HotSync with.

Graffiti anywhere is nice, but its kind of annoying that you need to press a hardkey to activate it.
You can try Newpen, also a free application, where you click on a tiny box in the bottom right corner of the screen to activate it. Works much like Graffiti anywhere.
The downside to both these programs: you can't do any punctuation. No periods, dashes, exclaimation points... basically you can only write text and spaces. Sort of annoying.

Yoyoyo,
Not sure what you mean about GA. I get punctuation on my TG50 with no problem. The only keystroke I can't do is the Capitalization. I have to use the cap locks button.

I didn't even notice the capitalization problem until you mentioned it. Man, what a bummer!

in the NX70 you CAN see the stroke while you write in the VG Area...

Jot! It isn't free but you don't have to press anything to activate it and you can do capitalization and punctuation.
And if you don't like graffiti, you can switch from Graffiti strokes to Jot strokes.

walker, how do you get punctuation? Maybe I need a new version of GA? I'm running version 1.3.1
no punctuations here...

yOyoYoo,
1.3.1 is the latest version and punctuation works with it......

You have to draw a diagonal line from the bottom-right to the top left. This works the same as if you do a dot in the Graffiti area. I notice that dashes only work on the left hand side though for some reason. Kinda strange when entering phone numbers.

YOYOYoo,
Punctuation depends on your settings. For me, I have single tap recognition off, which allows me to access punctuation with a single tap as normal. When single tap recognition is on, I have to do the diagonal slash Cbulock referenced. I can't believe there isn't a command to get to CAPS...I will continue to check.
Except for having caps lock on, this works beautifully. Wish Sony had licensed it instead of the popup Graffiti that takes up almost the entire screen.

Received a very fast response form the developper, who suggested shortening the vertical stroke to turn on capitalization. That worked beautifully. Now if I could only remap that unecessary Graffitti pop-up button.

Just downloaded the GA... don't have any problem with punctuations or CAPS...
These are some discoveries that I have on GA:
1. Notice that is if "Single Tap" is on, to get the "." icon, you have to sort of scribble a dot on the screen... just like trying to emphasis a full-stop. This will give u the "." icon at the bottom right screen that you get with the normal graffiti.
2. But with the "Single Tap" off, doing punctuations are much easier. However, now if you want to select the any on-screen buttons, you have to tap and hold on the button. Need to get use to this as your pen has to be very still.
3. For the CAPS, is the same way, I get the CAPS icon by drawing two vertical lines upward twice.
4. Notice that for selecting text, have to tab and hold at the starting point. Once you get the cursor, drag and select the text.
BTW, my version is 1.3.1...
Hope it helps....

I tried point 3...i get the Grafitti help right away.
I figured out you have to draw a vertical line titled to the right a bit. Not too much or you'll get the short strokes menu.
I hat ethe TG50..Mines going back. I love the speed, but I shouldn't have to install hacks to make the device usable.
