View Full Version : Clie UX50 Movie question?
Alright, I'm new to this Clie world, though I am rather computer literate, but I cannot figure out how to convert the movie files the clie makes (.MAI) to a format viewable by my desktop PC? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :D

Those aren't the movie files themself. You need to look in the \MQ_ROOT\100MQV01 folder. That has the files in a MOV00001 name that are MQV format. Those will play on your pc if you have the latest Quicktime player.
BTW, would this be a better site if people answered questions, even though they have been answered b4, w/o a smart *** comment?? Or just ignore the question being asked. I know this is one of those questions that someone would use to do this.

Actually on this point... I did a vid clip about 5mb in size and it wouldnt email it because of insufficient memory...i freed up some space on the internal mem and it worked fine... is there a work around for this?
Oh and I agree with the 2nd posters comments...a quick answer to a question is just as easy as a negative retort.... I did notice the other day one member did take the time to answer a question on movie conversion which was nice.

I've found when I transfer the movie file back to the computer the Image Converter program won't recognize it if I want to tranfer it back at a later time and have it fit in with the other movies number sequence, to get around this, once the movie is back on my computer I simply rename it and change the extension to .mov, I get a warning but it then shows up as a full quicktime file, plays in the quicktime player and is recognized by Image Converter for moving to another Clie, or back to the original one..

If you don't like to have to rename the files each time, you can associate the MQV files with QuickTime when using Windows.
It's a little different between Windows versions (I have 2000), but usually, you just right click on the MQV, say Open With, choose QuickTime and check the "Always use this program" box or similar.
