I've been concerned about the fairly high rate of blurry pictures I've been taking w/ my NZ. It seemed that 1 of 5 pics would be slightly blurry, mostly those takes indoors or under low light situations.

But i noticed that when I use the hardware capture button on the side, the NZ actually tries to focus the lens better and as a result, I get better sharper pics. This is because, if I hold the button down half way, the NZ sets the focus and displays other info for me.

If I use the software capture button, the NZ seems to skip the auto focus part and just snaps a quick shot. Under low light, it almost always comes out blurry. Very very odd.

Has anyone else played with this and come to the same conclusion? Basically, I won't be using the cool software capture button again.

Is there way to get the same result using the software button as a half way press of the hardware button?

and I think I mentioned this b4 but when you start taking alot of pictures and the camera warms up, autofocus doesn't work. Or not well even under good lighting.

hmm, i haven't experienced this "blurry" photo thing. I always hold my NZ fairly still while taking a photo, ....have had very good success w/ pictures being very clear.

In my case, you could use the button on the side, you would hear it focusing and dropping the focus and just snapping the picture.

It was in one of the NZ reviews, camera shake was the biggest problem in low light conditions. Using flash normally will freeze motion or holding it on a steady surface. Even on my Sony 5MP camera, shake can be a problem, especially on telephoto shots as movement gets magnified.

Yeah, my results are the same, I now always use the hardware shutter release, as it alows me to press halfway down, wait for the green light and "beep beep" sound before pressing all the way and capturing the picture.

Pictures have been comming out great. only issue with this camera is poor lowlight performance, but I guess that is what one could expect when stuffing a camera into a PDA. it is just not possible to do EVERY thing. after all, the entire unit is smaller than many digital cameras.
