T5 and Treo Update

I don't think that I'm ready to shell out anymore cash on this T5 yet. TealBackup seems to work sometimes. I can't wait for someone to come up with a sure fire backup program.

Palmone's website says,

"This update works on three backup expansion cards: the palmOne 64MB Backup Plus card, the MDM Secure File PDA Backup card, and the MDM Mobile Backup card. It is not intended for other expansion cards."

The MDM Mobile Backup card is described at www.gomdm.com/p_backup.asp but where is the "64MB Backup Plus card" described? I can't find it on Palmone's website or using Google. Whatever card this is, it sounds like it has some software preinstalled on it. Is it identical to the MDM Mobile Backup card?

Lets see: PalmONEs branded memory cards don't seem to sell well. So now they get rid of their ole stock by selling it as backup cards..... At least thats my private opinion....

Has anyone ever made it to use a backup card as a regular SD one??

What PalmOne has posted on it's tech support page is an upgrade to the software on a SD Card they used to sell (maybe still do). I updated mine and ran it on my T5. It backed-up and restored. Afterward, my T5 appears to be running okay, so I'd guess the restore works. This is the ONLY back-up program I've found that works on a T5 to date. It's also an auto start program that runs when you insert the card in the T5's SD slot.

I sent the link to BitsNBolts (Backupman developer), hopefully they can find out something on the patch in order to improve backupman compability to T5.

As of this moment, is there a backup program that works with the T5?

I'm still working with TealBackup.. but still very buggy..

The only one I've found that works backing-up and restoring is the update that PalmOne just released 12/20/04 for it's backup SD card. I updated my card and ran it, then did a restore and everything appears to be working well after the restore. I think I tried just about all on the market before doing the Palm SD Card thing and NONE of the others worked.

errr... currently I only backup to my desktop, is bit worry when go outstation!
may be will consider to buy Palm Backup card :(

It it possible to convert a normal SDcard or MMC card into a Backup Plus card? Is the Backup Plus software sold anywhere? Can't seem to find it.

The software is on the card when you buy the card. I am unaware of the software being otherwise available.

Botzam Backup 2.12 is working in a generally reliable manner on my T5. At times there is a reset but it is as good as anything right now.

Backup Plus is also working at about an equal level of reliability (with the update). Actually, it appears that Backup Plus is a subset of Botzam Backup. The Botzam label provides scheduled backup and some other features.

I repeat, however, there are still times of resets on both of these. It is not perfect, but much more reliable than any of the others I've tried including Backup Man, VFS Backup (haven't tried the new beta on this one) and TealBackup.
