It kept constantly locking up my NX70 and had to keep doing hard reset, not good.

Any ideas? I have not tried it again since I got my NX70, but thought maybe someone came up with a fix?

Thanks

I use AIM on my NX70 with no problems.  Are you getting a stable connection?

In my experience with AIM ver 1.1 (on my NR70v) if I did not log off of the program before I disconnected my wireless connection, it would crash my palm, causing many hard resets til I did one holding the UP key for a soft reset and officially deleted the program.

Try this next time, try logging off before you disconnect your internet connection. You should have NO problems with AIm crashing your palm anymore. Also, don't try running AIM if you're not connected to a wireless connection or it will also crash your palm.

It works fine for me, even if I quit the app without disconnecting. Make sure you are using AIM v1.1 as v1.0 was troublesome.

I had to do a hard reset.

I dont get it, why is it that other can get it to work and I cannot?

I know it is not my connections because I Have no problems surfing and get consittent speeds and right next to my WAP.

I don't know, but it worked right from the beginning and stll works. It imported all my buddy lists without intervention. They all of a sudden magically appeared. Then again I have no idea what other softwares your running or hacks, etc.

Why do some get PocketLink to run, while some others can't, my unit included???

do you ahve to be hooked up wirelessly to a cable modem or dsl to be able to use aim? I dont see how you could use it alone with an ambicom since you wouldnt have a server like aol running. If someone could clarify this for me id appreciate it.

I had the same probelm after I didn't log off before existing the program.

all i did was soft reset w/ up button and deleted the aim files, then soft reset. It'll happen again if I install aim again. all I did was delete the saved preferences file and aim works again.

No, you can be hooked up to a dial line for AIM and internet access. I am on a cable modem and home LAN, that just makes it faster. In fact, a few of my friends were on AIM for years on a dial line and were not AOL users. Now if you want AOL wireless, that's different, as it's a pay service.

Im not sure i explained what i was talking about exactly... On a computer you cant just sign on to aim directly... you ahve to be signed on to aol or msn or something like that.... does this apply on the clie? Or can i just plug in the ambicom modem and load aim on my clie then just sign on

No! No! No!, I can sign on directly to AIM. On the PC Desktop AIM can be downloaded and run directly, same with the Clie. All I have is Comcast Cable as my ISP provider for internet access. No AOL, no MSN. I also have a dial-up account with another local ISP and running AIM there is no problem either. In other words, you do NOT need anything special, except to download AIM and install it. It's that simple, other than needing a screen name. AOL's AIM is also a stand-a-lone chat instant messaging application that only needs internet access from anyone.

There is a separate AOL pay wireless service that you can subscribe to also.

Right, dial-up your ISP via the Ambicom modem and load AIM and sign-on with your screen name and password.

I hope I have made it clear enough that nothing special is needed. Use any ISP of your choosing.
