Hello,

I just received a Garmin Etrex Venture GPS unit. I plan on connecting to my Clie with a cable from pc-mobile.net, but I have some questions on software. I can't get a good answer to this question. I am wondering if it is possible. I want to take the Garmin connected to my PDA out to my hunting woods. We have several trails, food plots, creeks, fields and other things that could be mapped. I want to walk along or around each one of these things and produce tracks that I could display on the screen. After I'm done, I want to input this info. into my PC. From there, I would like to change these tracks into graphical things such as a road or a field or a creek. Then, I would like to produce a map. Does anyone know of a good way of doing this? Software for PDA and PC? I would think it could be possible. I'm new to GPS, so any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Brian

Use the Garmin to track all your points. Then go home and dump the data into your computer and make a map. No Clie needed at all for that.

Here's a few free software ideas for your PC. I haven't tried any of them yet.

Hi Brian,

If you want to connect your venture to your NX, you need to get a cable for it first. You can get it at:
http://pc-mobile.net/clie.htm or

For the things you want to use it with, I recommend PathAway:

As for the plotting the points to a map, how about to Satellite Images? ;) Here's a good program:

I hope this helps.
