It's possible. The following is published on the Handspring site and I tried it (successfully!) on the NR70V:

1. Press the Memo Pad icon.
2. Tap New.
3. Enter the shortcut character in the Graffitti writing area. The shortcut character is very similar to a lower case cursive "L".
4. Enter a period.
5. Enter the number 5.
Whether you entered the shortcut character, period and 5 correctly or not, the characters you've entered will disappear and the memo pad will remain blank. To see if you succeeded, tap the applications icon and then tap the HotSync icon. Your user name appears in the upper right corner of the screen: if it's blank, then your user name has been deleted. The next time you HotSync with this handheld, you will be asked to create a new user name.

Another option is to use ChangeName: http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=DDF1D946-FB89-49AC-877D9A82310CBCDD&prodID=2456

I believe what he means is to do a stroke much like a Graffitti "k" except turn it clockwise 90 degrees. On paper that would look like a cursive lower case "L". This would put you into the "short cut " mode.

That works great - thanks for the tip. I couldn't get the ChangeName app to work, but now no need. :p

You're welcome guys & gals. It took me a while to figure it out - so let's hear it for our friends at Google and Handspring who combined got me to the method. :)

Now, in return, can somebody help me figure out how to get the NZ90 to brew a great latte? It's about the only thing it's not doing for me yet. ;)

Sony and Starbucks will be releasing the MemoryStick LM (latte-maker). Watch for it in stores.

Here are more shortcut commands (http://www.palmosworld.com/shortcuts/shortcuts.html) than you'll ever need them.
