My dad has a Sony Clie "Weak Battery" TJ37 and I used to have a Sony Clie "The Brick" NZ90. we both used Palm Desktop for Clie, but now that I have a Zodiac 2, can I dual install these, or can I just install the Zodiac's conduits and keep the exsisting install, or will my dad's Clie work work with the Zodiac Palm Desktop.

Well, I was brave and downloaded the Tapwave Zodiac Palm Desktop update from the Tapwave site to test it to see if my dad's TJ37 would still work, and sure enough it did, I just told it to update Palm Desktop and leave the current install info remain. It worked perfectly, I just set my dad's TJ37 not to sync with the Tapwave conduits, and I set a few of my old Clie's conduits sync with my Zodiac, but not all.

With some finesse I managed to get a Palm Tungsten T2 and Tapwave Zodiac to work on the same PC with all of the conduits for both on the same desktop. What I ended up doing was setting up the Zodiac, and leaving the desktop software installed. Then I installed over the new with the old (risky, but it worked), and setup the T2. Once it was working I then reinstalled the Zodiac desktop and got it to work. Once everything was setup the Palm Desktop had the conduits and everything for all of the programs, the Palm Quick Install tool.

As long as you intall the Clie Palm Desktop and drivers first befiore the Zodiac's the you should be fine. The problem arises when you install the new Palm Desktop that the T5 comes with :(.

I'm hoping to configure a T3 and Zod2 on the same computer.

Thats exactally what I did Reggie. I still had the Palm Desktop for CLIE installed and then installed the Zodiac desktop software so now when ever my Zodiac 2 gets here (either today or tommorow, possibly Thursday) I can charge it, sync it, and get it ready to go. It ended up working without a single flaw when I installed. My dad's TJ37 synced right away, no problems (actaully seemed a bit faster, it should seem faster whenever I get that 512MB of RAM (For my PC) I ordered with my Zodiac 2 gets here.

Hey Reggie, did you ever get the T5 and Zodiac to coexist? I haven't got a Clie to throw into the mix yet, but I have got a T3, a T5, a Zire 72, and a Zodiac II. All work more or less okay with pilot-link, but the T5 and Zodiac II both have good reasons to sync with a wintendo for now because all of the useful features are not yet supported. :(

Yes, they can coexist. The problem though is when you installed the Zodiac Palm Desktop first then the T5's. During the T5 install, it deletes a USB_driver for the Zodiac. When you sync the Zodiac after installing the T5 files, it will look for that driver. Good thing there was a copy at the /windows/system folder. Not that this only happens if you sync the Zodiac via cable -- if you sync via Bluetooth or Wifi then you wont get the error.

You sure that the USB driver for the T5 works after that? Turns out (and I happen to know about this only because I spend my time coding for pilot-link) that the Zire 72 and Tungsten T5 have a bug in their USB chips. If you don't fragment writes to them over the USB port into 4k chunks at the protocol level, it pukes and you get corrupted/broken things installed.

The Zodiac just wants the desktop to be DLP version 1.4, mainly.
