Unfortunately no and the Sony manual states it.

what is MP3 Pro files? VBR?

They help compress mp3's more, but neither works on the NX or NZ.

VBR= Variable bit rate, but not supported.

What are the chances of getting mp3pro to play on the NX? Impossible? Or perhaps w/ 3rd party app?

'caus of the fact the the NX is not using hardware decoding for MP3's everything is possible - even support for oggVorbis etc.

possible, just very difficult according to what i hear from coders... but hey if there is an ambitious coder out there, Give it a Shot! And while your at it work on a new video player that suports playback of other formats!
