Yeah, I was in that boat after I first bought mine. There was no way in the world I was going to pay $90 for a mem stick in the store.

Had to stalk Ebay and lose a few bids to some overbidding freaks, but ended up finding a good deal without any friggin rebates. ((Hate rebates you mail in))

First thing I did was check out the MP3 playback feature. Using it right now at work! Then stuck on a ton of pictures and maps for gps tracking. Still have about 20Mb free....and tons of games!! I'm about to play some JetFighter right now.

Hang in there, it will be worth it when you get your mem stick.

Vent some more if you have to....perhaps some Sony Worker is monitoring this board for frustrated customers. You would thing that they would package a small stick with the Clie's.

That would be a good idea... especially when you can buy a 4 or 8 meg stick for hardly anything. That could be a nice token to entice customers to get more... of course, there are some of us who might not be interested if they don't know what they are even looking for. I know, but I am sure there are some who don't.

Sony is SO stingy witht heir little memory sticks, they cost next to nothing to make, yet they don'y give them away with the Clie, makes me MAD!!! I bought cybershot p-9 digital camera, they included a whole 16mb memory stick, I stuck it in and on the highest res of 4mp, it takes about 3 pix!!!! Sony get off your high horse and give a little!

Earn some money and spend it on what you want. Companies can't give things away like you all suggest. They need to make profit, not feed your gimme gimme free complaints. How do you think Sony funds R&D to come up with all of the innovative products and features that they constantly produce.

Anyway, you can buy a 128mb stick for about $30 at Amazon. Fork up the money and quit whining.

I bought a 32 mb Lexar @ Frys for $26.00 and that seems to do the job. I have massive data bases and all my games loaded on MS and still have a alot left over.

I think I just bought a 128MB stick from Amazon.com for $6.00 (after rebates). At worst, it cost $26. They aren't THAT expensive.

Hmmm, I guess sony doesn't make enough off the clie iteself huh!
Or the digital cameras, or the laptops, or the desktops.......ect,,, please!!! Sony can at least give a bit more than they currently do, with a 4mp camera, a 32mb stick would be nice, with a Clie that supports mp3 playback I don't think it would hurt sony to include an 8mb stick to at least use the mp3 feature, afterall memory sticks cost mere cents to make, though I do see that a lot of time and money went into designing and producing the stick I still don't think it would hurt to give a little.

There were a couple of threads covering the Amazon deal on memory sticks. Unfortunately it looks like they raised the price from $46 to $60.

I love you guys that report having scored great deals ($6 or $11) on 128 memory sticks but never say where you got them.  It's starting to seem that these cheap memory sticks are to this message forum as "Vera" is to Cheers.

SanDisk 128M MS Prices recently:

Best Buy: $59
Costco: $49 (must be a member = $45/yr.)

I wouldn't buy the Sony brand because of the price differential, and due to the many negative experiences with Lexar MSs, I wouldn't take a chance (even to save a few bucks) with them either. Go with SanDisk for $50 and bypass the shipping/rebate hastle! ;)

There are usually several threads about cheap memory sticks, usually in the Accessories forum.

As a frequent poster and reader, I know I often a.) assume that everyone is reading the same postings I am, and b.) am too lazy to keep posting the same stuff over and over. Heck, I am usually too lazy to even both posting the link ot the other threads. But, then, a lot of readers seem to be too lazy to search other threads as well, so I guess we are even, huh? :-)

The Amazon.com deal is pretty well documented around here. Amazon is selling Lexar 128 Mb sticks for $59.99 (cheaper if you luck into a discount code which i don't have). The site offers a $20 rebate, and 'devsdeals.com' is offering an additional $15 rebate.

From what we can tell, both rebates are valid if you order between March 1 and March 31. They both take copies of UPC and reciept, and both apply to Amazon.com. Both also say that you can do two rebates per name/household.

Amazon also offers FREE SHIPPING for these if you select the Super Snail (oops, that's supposed to be 'Super Saver') rate.
