there's another user... forgot his name... that had an NZ and called it an UPGRADE moving to the NX.

paraphrasing, but he basically the battery sucked a$$ because of the flash and that if you don't use the flash all that megapixelin wasn't worth it. also if you buy the extra battery and standard accessories (wifi, case, extra syluses, screen protector, extra cables or cradle) you've just bought a subnotebook or tablet PC.

so... what's an upgrade?

I finally got to hold a NZ and boy I wouldn't trade my NX for one if it was the last PDA on Earth. That sucker was big and felt real ackward in my hand. It's just not as classy as the NX.

Just my $.02...to each his/her own.

saw one at compusa... some puss faced geek wouldn't let me hold it in my hand so i could compare "brickness" all the pda's i've owned have been called bricks... jornada 430 and an nx

oh well... both have functionality that's STILL hard to find in just any pda today.

bought an NX, (best choice), wondered if I had stopped short of the best.. (didn't get the NZ), stumbled across an NZ at CircutCity, felt it, saw it up close and personal, held it in my hand, laughed at it, took mourge photos of it with my NX, and chuckled all the way home at all the suckers who were going to buy it. The NX is the best of all the worlds. sleek, stylish, powerful, efficient, and did I mention sleek and stylish (2 things the NZ is not).... can I get a witness?:D

I have an NX and a Sony DSC-U20 2Meg camera......... this covers most angles and is a much better compromise than the NZ!!

I don't mind. It's a great PDA. And so is the NZ. AND so will be the NX85v or whatever else follows.... To each his own in PDA land unless it's the evil PPC camp....;)

Yeah...Evil PPC

ppc isn't so bad.

I would buy a Toshiba PPC with built-in wifi if only it had a hires screen. But I also think that you can expect to see some less expensive Palms with built in wifi, because of that new low power (cheap) chipset by TI.

Yeah rldunn is right...not very good due to the LCD screen perhap. But what so bad about NZ?

You did mention that Nx to Nz is consider downgrade which mean NZ is worst than NX. Is it because of its price?

rldunn
03-20-2003, 09:14 PM
No, I personally think that even if they were the same price, I would want the NX over the NZ. I like the keyboard on the NZ and the fact that it's voice recorder button is not part of the pic capture button, but I like the size and swivel camera better on the NX, and to me the size is the deciding factor. Not that I want to rehash this argument again or anything!!

so silly getting caught up over the word "upgrade." the nz has more features, so the dude is calling it an upgrade. would you get over it already? sheesh. i'd rather have a TG than an NX, but I wouldn't be tripping if someone talked about "upgrading" from a TG to an NX. just another example of how some folks are too sensitive and defensive about their PDAs.

It IS the Clie NX series board. Those who don't want to listen to NX owner's opinions (We're proud to own this sweet machine!) should go to the NZ board. :)

YEAH same apply to the d guest.

I not sensitive and defensive about my PDAs, i just want to know more about NZ only.

Look who's talking...

Anyway, it is right to say "upgrading" from a TG to an NX. Comparing the price and functions...

I'm not sure what you mean by "look who's talking..." Were you assuming I was an NZ user? I am a Tungsten|T user with thoughts of getting an NX to use as a mobile picture frame. Certainly I have no bias nor have I displayed any sensitivity about the Tungsten.

By the same logic, it is right to say "upgrading from an NX to NZ. Look at the price and functions :D.

I made the original bias remark. I think this thread is humourous. They're both great PDA's, each with their own seperate flaws. I've owned both.We haven't reached PDA nirvana yet nor will we ever. Too many differing opinions about what that might be.
I like to kid N2IFP. His reply was in response to my "bias" post and was meant in good humor as well.
Some people seem threatened by the NZ. It's just a PDA kids....

no its because its bigger less sylish bad battery, bad camea design

i think it's simple:

it was an upgrade from nr70 to nx70; more options (wlan!), better camera; os5; faster cpu and all that; i have my nx70 for some 2 weeks now and would never go back to nr; the only things i miss is the surface coating (was sleeker and not so easily scratched IMHO) and the bigger ram -> but those are minors).

now what about the nz90: would this be an upgrade? in terms of built in bluetooth yes; in terms of exchangable battery yes -> that's it; sure you get a 2mp-flash-camera; but you need to deal with weight, size, fast battery drain;

what i am looking for would be an upgrade like that:
> built-in bluetooth
> built-in wifi
or even better
> second ms-slot with wlan stick as an option
(c'mon sony, that should be possible)
> some nifty 32mb-64mb ram
> if possible slight improvement to camera
(800x600 would be nice; 1024x768 also)
(no flash please; could be done via stick-addon also)
> improved keyboard (a little maybe)
> app-buttons (just rubber or something) where this plastic thing is on top/button of the screen
> better speaker positioning
> replacable battery

ok, when will i get this? i want to upgrade now ;-)
