Anyone notice how small their backup is after loading a lot into Flash... my backup shrank from 7+ megs to 4+ megs and that scares me...

Why? You moved a lot of programs off RAM...

Yes, but BackupBuddy does not backup flash and if it did there is no way to restore it... correct?

Flash enable is supposed to address hard reset issues. I didn't reade xactly how.It acts as a recovery tool according to the readme. I did move it to the stick as recommended. I rarely have had to hard reset. Once on my NX , I think....

All -

If you load the apps into your FLASH, and then put the FLASHENABLE app on your MS, you're covered...if you suffer a hard reset, all you have to do is run the FLASHENABLE from your MS and the apps in FLASH will be visible and useable again.

From there, you have to have a backup of the contents of your RAM (and that is where the rest of this post comes in...)

What programs are you using for automated backup of your NZ?

I've read a lot of controversial posts regarding BackupBuddy not working well on OS5 devices...is this true?

I know the built in MSBackup works - as I've restored after a hard reset using it...but I'm looking for automated unattended backups.

I used to use JBBackup - because it could back things up to FLASH - but again, I've heard it doesn't work well with OS5...

Help?

Ken

I use the built in Clie backup, Backup Buddy and something called Advanced Backup... They have all functioned well in the past so I hope will also do in the future.

From Brayder Technologies. The Jackflash beta is given only to registered users. So you have to purchase JackFlash v2.6 first, get your registration code, then submit to Brayder via a form on their site, requesting the beta upgrade. A bit convoluted I agree, but that's the way they do it.

Just to add, the whole process only took me a little over an hour last night and would've taken less if I'd remembered to input my Hotsync ID when I purchased....
