Hey everyone,
I bought the wireless card so i could connect at school, but i cant connect! at the same places that other people are connecting, it goes connecting....retrying.... and thats it.. but people with laptops can see it on netstumbler. i know its a cisco router, and has no wep. i have the right ssid and everything else is set to obtain automaticly... power saving mode off. the light on the net card blinks.

how do i know if the card isnt dodgy? if there needs to be settings changed on the router, can i currently find out what they are set to? (remotely)

Thanks

Try adhoc mode to see if you can connect to a friends laptop. This might determine if the card is OK or not.

Every situation is different, especially if it's someone else's LAN. There are features that the Sony driver doesn't handle, that the card is capable of. Does the LAN use short or long preamble? The Sony only works with long preamble. Does your MAC address have to be added to network? Does it use LEAP? It's best if you can confer with the IT person. Please, remember that the driver used on a laptop is more sophisticated than found on the Clie.
